Product Design R&D Engineer

• Permanent Position
• Selangor, Malaysia

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Product Design R&D Engineer to join our client. This role is responsible for supporting cross-functional teams in electrical system design, sustaining engineering, project execution, and integration of third-party components. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in electrical engineering and hands-on experience in both design and testing of low-voltage systems, including UPS and switchgear.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide engineering support to front-end, production, quality, and field service teams on electrical system design and component inquiries, aligned with company standards.
• Lead and support sustaining and new product development projects.
• Maintain engineering databases, technical documentation, and design/process workflows.
• Evaluate design implications across disciplines (e.g. process, production feasibility, space, heat, voltage risks).
• Offer technical support for the integration and qualification of third-party products used in customer solutions.
• Oversee the design and implementation of Distribution Panels, Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS), Static Transfer Switches (STS), and Voltage Droppers.
• Define and execute part qualification and testing procedures in collaboration with testbay and quality teams.
• Develop clear design rules for third-party product integration into end solutions.
• Collaborate with purchasing on technical aspects of vendor qualification and product implementation.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

• Bachelor's degree in electrical or Electronic Engineering (or equivalent).
• Experience in electrical design engineering and project execution.
• Ability to handle multiple priorities effectively with strong organizational skills.
• Decisive, with the ability to act based on technical knowledge and procedures.
• Familiarity with international design processes and safety standards.
• Proficient in English (both written and spoken).
• Competent in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Preferred Skills & Experience

• Hands-on experience with low voltage electrical systems and testing processes.
• Experience with design/testing of UPS, LV/MV switchgears, transformers, high-power capacitors, PLCs, protection devices, voltage droppers, and related components.
• Knowledge of Part Data Management (PDM) tools and SAP.
• Familiar with electrical cabinet layout (UPS, switchgear, server racks).
• Able to read and interpret SLDs, schematics, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
