About the job (A) Senior Cloud Database Architect
A database architect's responsibility is to design databases that suit a company's various needs by studying and analyzing the priorities and business goals.
Develop database models with scalability and security.
Ensure that the database meets any regulations and standards when dealing with sensitive data.
Create technical documentation pertaining to a database's functionality, its ancillary tools, and how they work together to provide all the needed functionality.
Define standards and guidelines for different data platforms (RDBMS/NoSQL/Big Data and Analytics).
Governance of the database landscape across AIA business units.
Roles And Responsibilities
Architecting and designing data solutions.
Product evaluation of database technologies.
Create deployment guides, integration patterns, high availability, and disaster recovery patterns.
Create database standards and guidelines.
Database technology governance through policy as code.
Design automated deployment and DevOps pipelines for database implementation and maintenance.
Cost optimization of databases and data platforms.
Define best practices for data structure and configuration for security and performance tuning.
Troubleshooting database issues including performance and providing RCA and problem management.
Developing database solutions, installing, and configuring information systems, analyzing structural requirements for data projects, data migration, and designing conceptual and logical data models.
Collaborating with developers, designing databases, analyzing data, and modeling and migrating data.
Minimum Requirements
Degree holder in IT / Computer Science or equivalent discipline.
At least 10 years work experience in database architecture with at least 5 years in an architecture & design role on cloud technologies, Microsoft Azure preferred.
Proficiency in architecture design & implementations on public clouds (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS on Azure, AWS & AliCloud etc.). Preferably experienced in DevOps, hybrid cloud integration with on-premises infrastructure.
Cloud Architecture related certifications on database technologies.
Experience with database technologies such as Microsoft SQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, NoSQL MongoDB, MongoDB Atlas, Azure SQL, SQL MI, SQL Data Warehouse, Data Factory, Storage Accounts, etc.
Deep knowledge of database platform layers.
Knowledge of DevOps tools such as Jenkins, Bitbucket, GitHub, Ansible.
Knowledge of cloud orchestration tools.
Worked on data migration from on-premises to cloud technologies using both re-host, re-platform, and re-architect methodologies.
Worked on solution architecture creating high-level and detailed design documents.
Ability to analyze, develop, and recommend long-term strategic solutions to ensure capacity meets current and future requirements.
Ability to drive multiple vendors to support a complex enterprise infrastructure environment.
Work with internal and external partners, carriers, facility operators, and our hardware vendors to design and develop connectivity strategy.
Public cloud (Azure, Google, AWS) design and support experience at the enterprise level required.
Strong project implementation background, able to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
Ability to work under pressure.
Strong sense of ownership & self-driven.
Excellent communication skills in English.
Cooperative, good teamwork, and able to work independently.
