Responsible for developing and executing new product development, working with the commercialization team to bring these products to market. This includes leading and directing the R&D team by distributing workload and ensuring motivation and performance levels are maintained.
Key Activities
- Define the product strategy and road map.
- Create new concepts that enhance and improve existing products, aiming to differentiate them from other brands via additional features and improved function/reliability.
- Develop completely new product concepts within existing and new categories, including ideation, ingredient selection, and manufacturing launch.
- Locate, evaluate, and recommend new suppliers to grow MPT's existing supplier base, focusing on developing new capabilities and processes.
- Deliver market research and product specifications.
- Analyze relevant product information; identify and source new ingredients, processing technologies, and sensory/taste profiles aligned with emerging consumer trends.
- Act as the link between purchasing, production, quality, regulatory, and marketing teams.
- Manage all steps of the product lifecycle and report performance to the factory manager/director.
- Ensure on-time execution of new products to meet release deadlines.
- Coordinate efforts across R&D, Sourcing, Design, and Product Development.
- Coordinate product development and launch plans with marketing, including raw material specifications and sample testing.
- Lead and train team members in sensory testing, product presentation, and provide technical guidance for product preparation and pilot production.
- Work with regulatory to ensure compliance with health authority requirements.
- Implement, design, maintain, and review R&D documentation according to GLP standards.
- Provide technical assessments for new product/process opportunities to achieve desired taste, effectiveness, and stability.
- Manage departmental budget and costs, including supplier negotiations.
- Set up and review SOPs for R&D processes.
- Lead and guide the team on product stability studies and ensure they are conducted per SOP.
- Manage scale-up from laboratory to large-scale production, troubleshooting formulation issues.
- Solve R&D quality and scale-up issues across various dosage forms like liquids, emulsions, tablets, capsules, and powders.
- Ensure cleanliness, work system, and documentation compliance per GLP.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Food Science and Nutrition or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in FMCG, supplements, or functional foods.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience in planning at various intervals (annual, quarterly, monthly, weekly).
