Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide PCB design support to various functional groups globally, e.g., R&D, Test development, etc.
- Review and analyze design schematics to plan layout of PCB components, including dense multilayer boards.
- Layout various types of high-speed optical communications boards, e.g., Module transceiver, transponder, and test boards, according to corporate design guidelines.
- Utilize CADCAM tools to assist in the design process from schematic entry to Gerber post-processing. Software used: Mentor PADS Layout, PADS Logic and Router, Blueprint, CAM350, and Footprint Expert.
- Communicate with Hardware Design Engineers locally or from other R&D sites globally during the design process to ensure the designs fulfill technical requirements.
- Perform PCB peer review on layouts done by colleagues according to corporate standard checklist.
- Support CAD library work as needed, e.g., building PCB footprints and schematic symbols per IPC 7351 standard and corporate library guidelines.
Education & Experience
- Master’s or bachelor’s degree in any engineering discipline.
- Minimum 4-8 years of relevant full-time PCB design industry experience.
- Proficiency in PCB design software, particularly Mentor PADS, Router & Logic; other software skills are considered.
- Skills in CAM software: CAM350 (analyzing, net list verification, Gerber reproduction) and Blueprint (drafting assembly and fabrication drawings).
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and execute responsibilities professionally.
- Maturity, initiative, and decisiveness in making independent judgments.
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written, across all organizational levels globally.
Skills
- Knowledge of high-speed PCB design technology, including microstrips, strip lines, length matching, differential pairs, micro vias, minimizing stubs, crosstalk, providing continuous return paths, and fine-pitch SMD components.
- Proficiency in Mentor PADS, Router & Logic; other PCB design software skills are a plus.
