With over 30 years of track record, our client is a well-known multinational chemical manufacturer with a strong presence in Asia. They are currently seeking a Chief Operating Officer to lead their business in Malaysia and drive transformation.

Job Description

As the COO, you will oversee all commercial and operational aspects of the manufacturing plant, including people management and strategic projects. This role carries full P&L responsibility and is accountable for the overall success and growth of the business. Key responsibilities include:

1. Holding full P&L responsibility and preparing the annual budget, overseeing departments like Sales & Marketing, Supply Chain, Production, Finance, HR, etc.
2. Developing and executing the company's business strategies to meet the goals of the board and stakeholders.
3. Planning, coordinating, directing, and supervising daily operations of production, maintenance, quality, and deliveries.
4. Organizing and managing production conditions to meet organizational goals.
5. Providing strategic advice to the board and senior management to offer an accurate view of the market and company's future.
6. Planning cost-effective operations and market development activities.
7. Ensuring company policies and legal guidelines are communicated.
8. Maintaining trusting relationships with shareholders, business partners, and authorities.
9. Maintaining employee safety and morale by creating a safe and efficient working environment.
10. Ensuring all products meet customer specifications and quality standards.

The Successful Applicant

Requirements

The ideal candidate will demonstrate leadership in steering the company towards profitability while implementing its vision, mission, and long-term goals. Essential qualifications include:

• A Bachelor's, Master's, or Professional Degree in Engineering.
• At least 20 years of experience managing a fast-paced manufacturing environment, including 3-5 years in a senior leadership role such as MD, CEO, COO, or General Manager. Experience in chemical manufacturing is highly preferred.
• Proven experience in developing strategic and business plans.
• Thorough knowledge of market dynamics affecting the company.
• Excellent organizational, communication (English & BM), and interpersonal skills.
• Active leadership qualities, team-oriented, and hands-on when needed.
• Open to Malaysian candidates only.
