Qualifications

Job description

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Commodity Manager is responsible for providing technical support and implementing sourcing solutions that ensure continuity of material supply to meet Advanced Energy’s current and future business needs for the assigned commodity.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  1. Provide support for business and strategic procurement activities related to Mechanical Commodity spend.
  2. Execute commodity management strategies by implementing PML strategies to support local, regional, and global operational needs.
  3. Develop and maintain a sustainable supply chain with competitive cost, quality, and effective, lean execution.
  4. Evaluate price trends, new products, and manufacturing processes to improve overall commodity team performance for local and regional suppliers.
  5. Support Commodity Manager and Leader in divisional issues such as material expediting, VMI, and Incoterms.
  6. Evaluate supplier manufacturing capabilities and technology roadmaps; develop suppliers’ capabilities to meet future product needs.
  7. Support IQC in clarifying supplier FAI qualification issues, follow up on qualification status, and manage new source qualification.
  8. Provide technical support related to Mechanical commodities for local or regional design and operation sites.
  9. Develop the approved material list, monitor laminate qualification status, and update UL safety files.
  10. Maintain compliance with corporate and manufacturing policies and procedures.
  11. Ensure adherence to the highest ethical standards in procurement practices.
  12. Perform other duties as assigned.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Location: Penang Science Park, Simpang Ampat Penang.
  • Standard office environment using typical office equipment.
  • Travel approximately 25% domestically and internationally.
  • Ability to work under pressure.

  • Basic commodity knowledge with strong procurement expertise.
  • Understanding of supply and demand dynamics.
  • Procurement terms and practices.
  • Business and Product knowledge.
  • Program and Project Management skills.

Skills:

  • Proven ability to develop strategic supplier relationships and negotiate effectively.
  • Proactive problem-solving with strong planning skills, collaborating with engineering and suppliers.
  • Excellent knowledge of purchasing, production control, and supply chain management.
  • Strong communication skills in English and Mandarin.
  • Proficiency in presentation, Excel, and PowerPoint.

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.
