Job description

The Finance Manager is responsible for leading the full spectrum of financial and accounting functions, including financial reporting, corporate finance activities, treasury, taxation, and payroll. The role supports strategic financial initiatives, corporate growth activities, and ensures compliance with all statutory requirements. The Finance Manager works closely with senior leadership to provide financial insights for decision-making, drive operational efficiencies, and ensure financial stability.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Financial & Accounting Functions
  • Manage the overall financial and accounting operations, including financial reporting, credit control, treasury, and taxation.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and the timely delivery of financial reports for management and regulatory purposes.
  • Coordinate the month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring accurate financial data and reports.
  • Compliance & External Relations
    • Ensure the company’s financial operations comply with all regulatory and statutory requirements.
    • Liaise with auditors, tax consultants, bankers, and regulatory bodies to ensure proper management of financial operations.
    • Oversee corporate governance related to financial matters, including annual filings, tax submissions, and audits.
  • Treasury & Cash Flow Management
    • Oversee treasury management, ensuring proper cash flow, working capital optimization, and risk mitigation.
    • Manage relationships with financial institutions and optimize the company’s financial resources to support ongoing operations and growth initiatives.
    • Manage and mentor the finance team, ensuring accurate and efficient performance.
    • Lead the team through the month-end closing process and provide guidance on complex accounting issues.
    • Foster a collaborative environment that encourages team development and professional growth.
  • Business Operations & Decision Support
    • Provide financial insights and guidance to management to support business decision-making.
    • Identify areas for process improvement and efficiency within the finance function, contributing to overall business performance.
    • Ensure that all financial operations, internal controls, and business policies comply with industry standards and best practices.
  • Payroll & Human Resource Functions
    • Oversee payroll processes and related HR financial matters, ensuring timely and accurate payments.
    • Ensure that payroll activities comply with labor laws and internal company policies.
  • Other Responsibilities
    • Undertake any additional tasks as assigned by management to support the company’s strategic objectives.
    Qualifications & Requirements:
    • Bachelor’s Degree and/or Professional Degree in Accountancy, Finance, or a related field (CPA/ACCA or equivalent qualification is preferred).
    • At least 10 years of working experience in accounting/finance, with a minimum of 5 years in a managerial role.
    • Strong knowledge of financial reporting standards, taxation matters and corporate finance activities.
    • Proven experience in managing a finance team and handling complex financial operations.
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with strong attention to detail.
    • Proactive, results-oriented, and capable of working under minimal supervision with a sense of urgency.
    • Strong leadership abilities and excellent communication skills in both written and spoken English and Bahasa Malaysia.
    • Familiarity with financial software systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and advanced proficiency in Excel and financial modelling will be an added advantage.
