We are currently seeking a Senior Subsea Engineer (Structural) to join our team based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

About The Job
  1. Supervise and function within a design team and across multiple projects.
  2. Work within time and budget constraints.
  3. Manage interfaces within a project structure, including other disciplines, drawing office, document control, project management, client, and suppliers.
  4. Inform team members and identify changes to scope; raise change notifications with necessary documentation and estimates.
  5. Manage technical design scope to ensure compliance, quality, and timely delivery of engineering outputs.
  6. Assist lead engineer in the execution of subsea engineering for proposals and projects.
  7. Provide technical support and engineering solutions, understanding subsea system application and principles, including construction, installation, and operational aspects.
  8. Perform structural design and analysis independently; supervise junior engineers.
  9. Use recognized industry software for analyses (e.g., SACS, ABAQUS).
  10. Design and detail in accordance with industry codes and standards (e.g., DNV, ISO, API, ASME), client specifications, and scopes of work.
  11. Produce project deliverables such as design basis, drawings, calculations, specifications, datasheets, procedures, stress reports, material take-offs, weight reports, RFQ documents, bid evaluations, feasibility studies, and third-party submissions.
  12. Review design and technical documentation for compliance and performance.
  13. Attend project, vendor, engineering, and interface meetings as required.
  14. Contribute to developing in-house design tools for continuous improvement.
  15. Observe safety objectives and legal requirements; participate in safety and quality initiatives.
  16. Support, mentor, and develop junior engineers.

Main Accountabilities
  1. Plan subsea engineering activities effectively from schedule and budget perspectives.
  2. Collaborate with Lead Engineers, Project Management, and multidisciplinary engineers for scheduling and project support.
  3. Have in-depth knowledge of structure design codes and specifications; piping knowledge is a plus.
  4. Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and MathCad; knowledge of AutoCAD is a plus.
  5. Possess strong analytical and computer simulation skills.
  6. Exhibit good communication, writing, presentation skills, and a strong work ethic and attitude; organizational skills are essential.
  7. Interpret, organize, execute, and coordinate assignments; be a team player.
  8. Have a positive attitude towards developing and training the subsea engineering team.
  9. Demonstrate innovation and problem-solving abilities outside of the base role.

About You

Must have:

Qualifications & Experience:
  • BSc. in Civil, Structural, or Mechanical Engineering (MSc preferred) with at least 5 years of industry experience.
  • Experience supervising and performing FEED and detailed design of subsea and pipeline structures; offshore pipeline engineering interfacing is a plus.
  • Knowledge of SPS and/or SURF equipment at the system level during FEED and detailed design phases is preferable.
  • Experience in field development and conceptual studies for subsea development is advantageous.
  • Extensive experience with industry software for subsea structure design (e.g., SACS, Autopipe); experience with ABAQUS or similar for non-linear finite element analysis is a plus.
  • Experience providing technical support and training within engineering teams.
