The Voyage Claims Analyst plays a critical role in managing the financial aspects of post-fixture activities across a portfolio of vessels. This includes the calculation, issuance, negotiation, and settlement of claims such as freight, hire, demurrage, deviation, and other voyage-related costs.

Description

  • Claims Management: Monitor vessel activity to identify claimable events, prepare accurate invoices, and lead negotiations with counterparties including shipowners, charterers, and service providers.
  • Contractual Review: Analyse fixture recap details and charter party agreements to identify revenue and recovery opportunities and ensure adherence to commercial terms.
  • Financial Execution: Manage voyage-related financial processes including vendor payments, hire settlements, off-hire calculations, cost recovery, and profit-sharing arrangements.
  • Month-End Activities: Perform timely accruals, provision entries, and journal requests to support financial closing and P&L reporting.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Engage regularly with internal teams such as trading, operations, legal, and finance to provide insights, resolve queries, and support commercial decision-making.
  • Compliance and Controls: Ensure adherence to internal controls, anti-money laundering requirements, and financial policies.
  • Continuous Improvement: Contribute to process optimisation efforts, participate in projects, and support training and knowledge sharing across the team

Profile

  • A degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
  • 2-3 years of relevant work experience in finance, shipping, or commercial operations.
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to identify and optimise value in contract execution.
  • Proven problem-solving skills with a flexible and proactive approach.
  • Excellent numerical proficiency, supported by strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Confident in stakeholder engagement, with the ability to influence and negotiate effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
