An established industry player is seeking a Technical Trainer (Assistant Manager) to lead and enhance training programs for its APAC distributors. Position: Technical Trainer (Assistant Manager)
Reporting to: General Manager of Ownership Experience/ Channel
Location of work: Kia Training Centre, Glenmarie, Shah Alam, Malaysia
Job Overview:
The Technical Training Assistant Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering technical training programs for Kia APAC distributors and internal teams. This role ensures that all training activities, both in-class and hands-on, are effectively conducted in line with Kia’s global training standards. The position also oversees the operations of the Kia Training Centre (KTC), including facility readiness, training vehicle management, and reporting. This post will also conduct Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programs.
Key Responsibilities
· Lead the overall KTC operations and supervise subordinate activities effectively.
· Ensure the KTC building and facilities (tools, parts, equipment, and furniture) are always in good working condition and ready for training operations.
· Coordinate and report any maintenance or repair needs at KTC in a timely manner.
· Ensure timely submission of monthly operating expenses and utility bills to the Finance Department in accordance with the official cut-off dates.
· Ensure all scheduled training programs are conducted according to the training calendar.
· Coordinate with Kia HQ and Kia Malaysia for training vehicle arrangements.
· Ensure training vehicles are operational and readily available for use.
· Develop and enforce safety measures and SOPs to prevent accidents.
· Submit monthly reports on training performance and completion to the Ownership Experience Head.
2. Managing Technical Courses for Kia APAC Distributors’ Trainers
· Deliver New Model Training sessions in both offline and online formats.
· Conduct technical courses provided by Kia Dealer Academy and Kia HQ, including:
· Technician Recognition Program (TRP) – Level 1, 2 & 3
· Technician Recognition Program – Electric Vehicle (TRP EV) – Level 1 & 2
· Virtual Reality (VR) Training
· Electric Vehicle (EV) Diagnosis Course
· Provide Train-the-Trainer (TTT) programs to distributor trainers.
· Conduct Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programs for technicians and relevant participants in alignment with Kia’s technical training roadmap.
· Coordinate logistics and F&B arrangements for trainings based on the training schedule.
3. Managing and Monitoring Kia Dealer Academy (KDA) Operations & Result
· Enforce the utilization of the KDA platform by Kia APAC distributors as the official online learning system.
· Provide guidance and training to distributors on KDA operation and content usage.
· Monitor and follow up on certification progress for TRP and TRP EV levels.
· Conduct and manage TVET-related certification activities, ensuring alignment with KDA and regional training standards.
Requirements
· 5 years or more working experience at distributor level as Section / Department Head (at least a head of an individual team such as Technical or Training).
· Well-versed in all technical aspects of vehicles, including internal combustion engines, hybrid systems, and electric powertrains.
· Capable of performing accurate vehicle diagnostics using specialized tools and equipment.
· Able to prepare reports, manage monthly errant tracking including training expenses, and deliver professional presentations.
· Hands-on experience with HEV, PHEV, or EV vehicles.
· Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
· Willing and able to travel to South Korea and other Asia Pacific countries as required, with no travel restrictions imposed.
Education:
· Minimum Diploma in a technical field from an accredited institution; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
Experience:
· Strong background in technical training delivery and curriculum execution.
· Experience in managing training facilities or operations, especially in an automotive or distributor setting.
· Familiar with regional automotive training standards, including TVET programs.
· Exposure to international training environments and coordination with global or regional HQs.
Skills:
· Technical expertise in automotive systems, including diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repair.
· Strong training delivery and facilitation skills (classroom and hands-on).
· Skilled in using automotive diagnostic tools and e-learning platforms.
· Excellent report writing, data tracking, and presentation skills.
· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
· Ability to communicate clearly and confidently across multinational teams.
