Job Summary:

The Packaging Manager will oversee all aspects of the packaging process, ensuring the efficient operation of packing activities, the development of packaging systems, and the delivery of high-quality products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the head of Production to oversee all packing activities, focusing on manufacturing performance, workforce deployment, and the training & development of the packing team, while maintaining overall workplace housekeeping standards.
  • Plan, schedule, and verify all packing activities to ensure operational efficiency and timely delivery of shipments in alignment with customer requirements.
  • Implement and monitor quality control procedures to ensure orders are packed according to quality standards and safety regulations such as ISO 9001/13485/14001, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and US FDA QSR management systems.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and operational efficiency while implementing innovative solutions to improve product quality, reduce costs, and minimize waste.
  • Ensure a well-trained workforce to support the smooth operation of the department.
  • Optimize resource utilization to maximize packing efficiency and minimize waste.
  • Maintain comprehensive quality system documentation for the Packing Department, ensuring adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Align packing processes with customer requirements and expectations, fostering a customer-centric approach to deliver high-quality products on schedule.
  • Proactively identify packing challenges and develop effective solutions to enhance operational efficiency. Utilize data analysis and process mapping to streamline packing operations and consistently achieve production goals.
  • Oversee inventory levels of packaging materials and supplies. Coordinate with procurement to ensure the timely availability of resources while minimizing waste.
  • Work closely and collaboratively with all stakeholders, including planning, production, quality assurance, and logistics, to align packing operations with overall business objectives.
  • Analyze weekly and monthly packing performance reports and KPIs. Establish and regularly monitor KPIs for production metrics. Prepare detailed reports and analyses for senior management regarding packing activities and outcomes.
  • Monitor packing department budgets and expenses. Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or safety.
  • Stay updated on technological advancements in packing machinery and materials to implement innovative solutions that drive efficiency.

Experience Desired:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Science, Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 12-15 years of experience in packing management or a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with packing processes, equipment, and machinery.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Excel) to identify trends, analyze operations, and drive improvements.
  • Experience managing inventory levels, maintaining accurate stock records, and implementing effective reordering strategies.
