Job summary

Purpose

To execute & control the quality assurance of pressure vessel manufacture systems in our facility and pressure piping, ensuring the quality meets Air Product’s specifications & relevant codes & standards.

Nature and Scope

The job holder is a (Quality Assurance) QA Engineer in the Quality department, reporting directly to the Quality Manager. Their responsibility is to maintain proper quality assurance for pressure vessels & pressure piping manufacturing processes.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Control quality assurance for all pressure vessel manufacturing systems and pressure piping, complying with laws, regulations, and AP standards.
  • Supervise ISO9001 internal audits and improve the quality system.
  • Manage product quality plans to fully meet drawings, codes, and AP specifications.
  • Handle Non-conformance systems (VN) and delegate approval of deviations.
  • Prepare Quality Plans/Inspection Test Plans.
  • Develop pressure test procedures.
  • Coordinate inspections with authorities or client inspectors.
  • Lead QC Inspectors and provide training to enhance their skills and understanding of AP specifications.
  • Develop quality procedures or work processes.
  • Review preliminary designs and provide feedback to the design team.
  • Review and prepare product dossiers for ASME U form & Malaysia’s PV certification.
  • Maintain QM set and review in SAP.
  • Act as delegate when the Quality Manager is absent.
  • Perform any other assigned duties.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical or Metallurgy.
  • Minimum 5 years' QA/QC experience, with at least 2 years at an Engineer level in fabrication manufacturing for pressure vessels, piping, or machinery, or in the oil & gas industry, with inspection & testing skills.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Well-versed in Pressure Vessels Design, Piping, Manufacturing, Inspection & Testing.
  • Good knowledge of Malaysia/ASME codes & standards related to piping and pressure vessels.
  • Knowledge of NDE & welding.
  • Attention to quality issues and problem-solving skills.
  • High accountability and performance focus.
  • Proficiency in MS Office.
