This position effectively drives the monthly Sales & Operations (S&OP) Planning Process for assigned product lines, including development & implementation of strategies to support product launch planning, inventory & obsolescence management, product rationalization, and monitoring of key demand planning performance indicators. The Demand and Supply Planning Specialist is responsible for executing and monitoring all supply & distribution planning activities to ensure timely material availability, meet inventory targets, minimize obsolescence, and optimize costs. The role also ensures accurate business assumptions and integration with business plans to reduce forecast error. Additionally, the specialist owns the finished goods inventory target methodology used across global distribution sites for assigned products.
The key responsibilities are divided into several categories:
Demand Planning & Forecasting
- Lead monthly S&OP review meetings, challenge assumptions, and improve forecast accuracy through functional knowledge.
- Submit periodic Net Requirement Forecasts via SAP, based on cross-functional discussions and analyses, including sales forecasts, new product launches, and phase-in/out schedules.
- Collaborate closely with sales, marketing, regulatory, global planning, finance, and local supply chain teams to provide accurate demand signals.
Supply Planning
- Review and manage STOs generated by the system, minimizing manual processes.
- Handle sales orders and shipments, liaising with distributors, regulatory bodies, and planning teams to secure allocations.
- Place manual STOs when necessary and follow up to expedite shipments.
- Determine and maintain SNP parameters in SNP systems.
Inventory Planning and Control
- Monitor excess or aged stocks, coordinate with sales & marketing for clearance plans, and minimize write-offs.
- Ensure SOPs are in place and followed.
- Monitor safety stock levels and reorder points to maintain customer service levels.
- Drive reduction of Days of Inventory on Hand (DOH), monitor backorders and line fill rate, and manage supply crises to minimize risks.
Reporting
- Create reports on forecast accuracy, run-rate, inventory, expiry, etc.
- Maintain forecasts and planning factors within the demand planning system.
Continuous Improvement
- Improve forecasting processes while controlling costs and scrap rates.
- Optimize inventory and DOH for cost savings.
- Provide training to team members to improve work quality.
Other Functions and Responsibilities
- Adhere to Abbott's SOPs and prepare for audits and compliance requirements.
- Ensure SOP adherence and provide backup support for customer service, freight, and distribution functions.
- Participate in ad hoc projects as required.
Requirements
- Minimum diploma or college graduate equivalent.
- At least 3 years of experience in similar roles.
