Job Description

POSITION GENERAL SUMMARY

Responsible for ensuring the safety, cleanliness, and efficiency of airport runways, taxiways, and aprons by maintaining debris-free surfaces and adhering to strict operational protocols.

ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS

  1. Check all vehicles under the control of operations daily. Dispose of any FOD from vehicles.
  2. Inspect all airside vehicles, including:
    • Visual inspection for damage
    • Cleanliness (exterior and interior)
    • Radiator water level
    • Lubricating/engine oil
    • Battery water level
    • Hydraulic oil level
    • Wiper fluid
    • Other checks as per instruction manual/checklist
  3. Log and report any irregularities immediately to the officer in charge for further action.
  4. Ensure vehicles are sent for servicing according to the service manual.
  5. Keep accurate logs of:
    • Vehicle mileage
    • Fuel dispense
    • Lubricating oil
    • Other relevant data
  6. Docket all faults in duplicate: one for the workshop, one for the officer in charge.
  7. Notify the officer in charge of faults outstanding for more than 7 days.
  8. Activate all 8 sweepers' engines daily.
  9. Sweep apron, taxiways, and aircraft maneuvering areas daily, following the airfield sweeping program.
  10. Dispose of debris from sweepers daily and wash the equipment.
  11. Immediately dispose of debris containing bitumen and tar from newly paved areas to prevent hardening.
  12. Adhere to airside rules and regulations.
