Job summary

NTT DATA in Malaysia is seeking a senior leader to drive the APAC Solutions & Sales Engineering strategy. The role leads a multi-country team, oversees complex electrical and mechanical data center solutions, and collaborates with product, design, construction, and operations to deliver projects.

The ideal candidate has 15+ years in a similar role, strong stakeholder management, and proficiency with CAD/CFD tools.

Qualifications

• Four-year engineering degree in mechanical or electrical engineering and professional engineer registration.
• Extensive experience managing a sales engineering team in data center environments.
• MBA or equivalent business acumen is preferred.
• Proven ability to influence stakeholders and lead cross-functional initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Lead the APAC Solutions & Sales Engineering strategy under VP guidance.
• Mentor and manage a multi-country team across APAC with a focus on innovation.
• Oversee design, development and delivery of data center electrical and mechanical solutions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Work closely with VP Global Sales Engineering and execute the overall strategy for the APAC region Solutions & Sales Engineering team in alignment with company goals and objectives.
• Lead, mentor, and manage a team of highly skilled solutions and sales engineers in different APAC region countries, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
• Oversee the design, development, and delivery of complex Electrical and Mechanical solutions, ensuring they meet the highest standards of quality and performance.
• Drive innovation within the Solutions & Sales Engineering team, staying up-to-date with the latest industry trends and technologies.
• Works with the Product team and assists in facility space planning and management.
• Demonstrates expert understanding of data center design concepts and differentiators (liquid cooling, maintainable fault tolerant power, security redundancy, etc.).
• Reviews lease terms and aligns with the customer’s technical requirements.
• Ensure effective communication and coordination between the Solutions & Sales Engineering team and other departments
• Work closely with sales, product management, design, construction, operations and customer support teams to ensure seamless integration of solutions and successful project delivery.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

• Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
• Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to think strategically and make data-driven decisions.
• A thorough understanding of modern data center and IT client requirements and environments with a primary focus on wholesale customers and their data center requirements.
• Comfortable to evaluate and delve deep into any electrical & mechanical concepts and single line diagrams and work with customer technical teams to integrate their requirements into our data centers.
• Engages customers to extract critical technical and business drivers that may position client deliverables.
• Effective at working with 3rd party contractors and vendors to aid in the design of large customer infrastructure deployment requirements.
• Excellent problem solver/creative thinker.
• Comfortable speaking/presenting to groups of all sizes.
• Proficient with software application such as AutoCAD, CFD Modeling, Visio, Word, Excel, Power Point, Project Outlook, SharePoint and Salesforce.
• Able to work in a team/cross-team/multi-site environment.
• Manages stress and/or fast-pace effectively.
• Ability to develop and write a bill of materials and scope of work to meet large customer infrastructure deployment requirements.
• Maintains familiarity with competitive offerings to effectively position products and solutions in a competitive environment.
• Must possess effective oral and written communications and strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Must be a master storyteller and presenter.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

• Four-year college engineering degree or bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering from an accredited institution, and registered professional engineer. Master’s in business administration (MBA) or equivalent is also preferred.
• At least 15 years experience in a similar role within a related environment with particular exposure to the design and installation of data center mechanical or electrical systems
• Extensive previous experience operationally managing a sales engineering team
• Extensive technical pre-sales with electrical / mechanical engineering experience
• Extensive experience dealing with stakeholders to influence sales
• Extensive previous experience in the sales operations / effectiveness management role
• Extensive strategic and solid operational planning experience
• Extensive budget and financial management experiece
