Job description

The Director, Sales leads the property’s segmented sales efforts (e.g., corporate, group, airline, etc.), driving the implementation of sales strategies to achieve segment and overall property revenue goals. This role is responsible for ensuring both guest and employee satisfaction while managing all daily sales operations. Responsible in building and maintaining long-term, value-driven client relationships, secures personalbooking targets, and provides guidance on booking goals for the sales team.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing the Sales teams' operations and strategies. By researching market trends and conducting competitor analysis, you will develop and implement sales strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership & Planning

  • Develop, implement, and monitor comprehensive sales strategies to achieve revenue targets across all market segments.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Commercial, sales leaders, and department heads to align sales efforts with overall hotel objectives.
  • Design and execute sales plans addressing revenue growth, customer acquisition, and market share expansion.
  • Lead an aggressive solicitation program to drive new business and strengthen existing accounts.
  • Conduct regular reviews of market trends, competitor activities, and customer needs to identify opportunities and adjust strategies accordingly.

Sales & Revenue Management

  • Maintain strong relationships with key accounts, industry partners, and travel trade professionals.
  • Lead negotiations and secure contracts that maximize profitability while preserving brand integrity.
  • Oversee high-value events and key client accounts, ensuring expectations are exceeded.
  • Recommend booking goals for the sales team and achieve personal booking targets.
  • Approve and manage space release decisions in coordination with catering and revenue management to optimize yield.

Market Analysis & Competitive Intelligence

  • Conduct regular competitor rate and promotion surveys, recommending adjustments to rate structures where necessary.
  • Analyze guest history, customer feedback, and government/industry statistics to identify market trends and business opportunities.
  • Prepare and present periodic market performance and competitive analysis reports for management review.

Client Relationship Management

  • Build and sustain long-term relationships with corporate clients, event planners, and industry stakeholders.
  • Represent the hotel at trade shows, sales missions, networking events, and community functions.
  • Meet with clients pre- and post-event to ensure satisfaction, gather feedback, and secure repeat business.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Manage, coach, and motivate the sales team to deliver exceptional results.
  • Set clear objectives, conduct performance reviews, and identify training needs.
  • Implement formal orientation and ongoing development programs to enhance team capabilities.
  • Foster a positive, collaborative work environment that encourages high performance.

Operational Excellence

  • Ensure all sales activities comply with brand standards, legal regulations, and ethical practices.
  • Oversee preparation and maintenance of promotional materials, contracts, and sales collateral.
  • Maintain accurate and timely sales reports, forecasts, and departmental budgets.
  • Ensure efficient internal distribution of contracts, rate information, and client communications

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • 3 - 5 years' of leadership capacity
  • 8 to 10 years' of progressive sales experience in the hospitality industry
  • Proven history of meeting and surpassing revenue targets
  • Successful tract records in managing a broad range of sales segments, including corporate, MICE, leisure and airline
  • Well established network of industry contacts and strong client relationships in key markets
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Expertise in designing and implementing strategic sales plans, leading high-performance teams and fostering long-term customer loyalty.
