NEW Position: Director of Health and Wellness
Department: Health and Wellness
Classification/Level: Department Manager Level 2-3 ($88,400.00 - $135,200.00)
Employment Status: Term Full Time (37.5 hours per week)

Reporting Relationship

The Director reports directly to Enaagdenjged, maintains communication with Chief & Council, and collaborates with all Departments within M’Chigeeng First Nation.

Position Summary

The Director manages the Health and Wellness Department, implementing strategic plans aligned with budgets, policies, and legislative requirements. Responsibilities include overseeing programs, managing funding agreements with Federal and Provincial governments, and supervising department staff.

Essential Functions
  1. Develop and review annual service plans and budgets in collaboration with Enaagdenjged and Managers.
  2. Monitor financial statements and ensure compliance with funding and policies.
  3. Manage program delivery, data compliance, and reporting.
  4. Coordinate funding claims and prepare reports for Chief & Council.
  5. Participate in capital projects and policy reviews.
  6. Ensure service delivery aligns with cultural values and community needs.
  7. Lead staff supervision, training, and performance appraisals.
  8. Build relationships with community and external partners.
  9. Ensure legal, safety, and risk management protocols are followed.
Case Management and Reporting
  • Maintain accurate case records and confidentiality.
  • Report incidents and ensure accountability.
Qualifications

Preferred: Masters in Health/Social Services, 5+ years senior management experience, First Aid/CPR, valid driver’s license, clear CPIC and Vulnerable Sector check.

Minimum: Degree in Health or Social Services, senior management experience in a First Nation context.

Knowledge and Skills
  • Strong understanding of Ojibway culture, traditions, and language (asset).
  • Excellent advocacy, communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure, independently, and collaboratively.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and case management systems.
