About the Role

The Director of Engineering will lead teams of engineers to design, implement, and operate large-scale cloud systems. The ideal candidate has a strong technical background, business acumen, and experience cultivating a robust engineering culture that promotes effective collaboration across domains.

Key Responsibilities

Collaborate with senior business leaders to achieve objectives, ensure timely delivery of projects, and develop future-proof system architectures.
Lead and support team leads and engineers, establishing clear communication channels.
Mentor and coach team members, actively participating in development efforts.
Engage in full software development lifecycle: design, coding, testing, deployment.
Work closely with Product, Design, and QA teams to iterate on product design, implementation, and monitoring.
Accelerate time-to-market for products across MoneyLion’s portfolio.
Participate in resource planning and hiring strategies.

About You

Experience as a software engineer using Java or similar modern languages like Typescript, Scala, etc.
Proficiency with RESTful services using frameworks like Spring Boot or similar.
Strong background in Infrastructure as Code (IaC), cloud infrastructure (AWS), Kubernetes, and CI/CD systems.
Experience with NoSQL and relational databases such as DynamoDB, MySQL, PostgreSQL.
Knowledge of platform-level reusable components, event architectures, messaging, and caching systems (JMS, Kafka, etc.).
Minimum 5+ years in building scalable, available distributed systems.
Experience managing teams of engineers or team leads.
Proven ability to recruit, structure, and lead technical teams in fast-paced environments.
