About the Role

The Kuala Lumpur office is the technology hub of MoneyLion, focusing on innovative initiatives in a fast-paced environment. The Director of Engineering will lead teams of engineers and team leads to design, implement, and operate large-scale cloud systems, fostering a strong engineering culture and effective cross-domain collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

1. Collaborate with senior executives to meet business objectives, ensuring timely delivery and future-proof architecture.
2. Lead and support teams of team leads and engineers, establishing strong communication channels.
3. Mentor and develop team members, contributing to the development effort.
4. Drive technical discovery and hands-on software development when necessary.
5. Participate actively in all phases of the development lifecycle: design, coding, testing, deployment.
6. Work closely with Product, Design, and QA teams to iterate and monitor products.
7. Accelerate time-to-market for MoneyLion’s products.
8. Engage in resource planning and hiring strategies.

About You

• Experience as a software engineer using Java or modern languages like Typescript, Scala, or similar.
• Proficiency with RESTful services and frameworks such as Spring MVC, Spring Boot, etc.
• Strong background in Infrastructure as Code (IaC), cloud infrastructure (AWS, Kubernetes), and CI/CD systems.
• Experience with NoSQL and relational databases (DynamoDB, MySQL, PostgreSQL).
• Designing platform-level, reusable components, event architectures, messaging, and caching systems.
• Minimum of 5+ years building scalable, distributed systems.
• Experience managing teams of engineers or managers.
• Proven ability to recruit, structure, and lead technical teams in fast-paced environments.
