Job description

AET is one of the leading global owners and operators of maritime transportation assets and specialised services, committed to moving energy responsibly and eco-efficiently as an advocate of sustainable shipping. Our current diversified fleet of over 60 vessels includes conventional and nine dual-fuel tankers as well as collaboration on zero-emission vessels. Partnering global energy majors, refineries and traders, we drive collaboration to accelerate the industry’s energy transition through operational excellence.

Headquartered in Singapore with commercial and operational offices in Malaysia, the US, the UK, Norway, Brazil, and Uruguay, AET is wholly-owned by Malaysian energy logistics group MISC Berhad.

We are looking for a Director, Business Digitalisation to join our team!

Purpose of the Role

  • Digitalisation, including AI, presents a transformative opportunity for AET and the broader maritime industry. From driving operational and cost efficiencies to enhancing safety, environmental performance, and strategic decision-making, digital technologies are vital enablers of change.
  • AET operates in a highly competitive environment where agility, data-driven insight, and innovation are essential. To achieve its ambitious AET2030 strategic targets — including significant growth and decarbonisation — the organisation must leverage digital tools that provide competitive advantage, operational transparency, and the ability to proactively reduce emissions across the fleet.
  • We are seeking a creative and delivery-focused digital and maritime leader to identify and drive digital innovation across the organisation, combining deep domain expertise with strong technological awareness to address maritime-specific challenges and opportunities.
  • Delivery of outcomes will be supported through close collaboration and alignment of the MISC Group Digitalisation strategy and the full suite of ICT staff within the MISC Group.

Key Accountabilities

  • Lead business-driven digitalisation initiatives across AET, developing and executing digitalisation plans aligned with both AET’s operational goals and the broader MISC Group digital strategy.
  • Evaluate, identify and, with the support and alignment of MISC Group, implement digital technologies (including AI, machine learning, data analytics, automation) to improve operational and business performance, safety, sustainability, and compliance.
  • Ensure alignment of digital solutions with business objectives while driving efficiency, innovation, and long-term value creation.
  • Collaborate with the ICT Business Interface Manager to scope and coordinate support needs from MISC ICT for in-house and enterprise-wide solutions.
  • Leverage shipping networks and scan the maritime technology landscape for tools and systems aligned with business needs, including vendor identification, evaluation, procurement, budgeting, and integration strategies.
  • Actively engage with industry bodies, accelerators, incubators, startups, technology vendors, academia, and research institutions to stay abreast of emerging technologies, identify and pilot emerging solutions.
  • Partner with senior leaders and functional heads to identify digital needs, challenges, and opportunities across the organisation.
  • Lead change management initiatives to ensure successful adoption of digital tools and foster a culture of innovation and agility.
  • Establish digital governance structures, including policies, standards, and best practices for data management, cybersecurity, compliance, and digital operations.
  • Shape and build the scope, roadmap, and budget for a future-facing digital transformation programme.
  • To comply with Company’s policies and Code of Conduct and Business Ethics (CoBE)
