We are a US-based multinational company seeking a Direct Materials Buyer. The Direct Materials Buyer will be responsible for purchase order management, fulfillment, and delivery of raw materials to meet our manufacturing plants' production needs. This role will manage supplier performance, purchase price variance, and ensure the timely availability of raw materials to meet the dynamic demand of our manufacturing sites.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Create and process standard purchase orders (PO) and outline agreements in SAP to approved vendors (under Global AVL) to optimize inventory.
2. Manage supplier order and delivery confirmations, updating order details in SAP promptly.
3. Communicate any supply gaps to operations in line with the escalation path.
4. Update schedules and expedite materials to meet the latest production plans.
5. Resolve shipment, warehouse, and customs-related issues with logistics.
6. Follow up with freight forwarders/couriers to meet PO delivery ETD/ETA.
7. Track supplier performance against committed dates, contracted lead times, and costs.
8. Initiate and conduct negotiations with suppliers on tactical execution to improve delivery, quality, and performance to meet factory demand.
9. Establish and maintain effective relationships with suppliers.
10. Conduct spot buys, obtaining competitive bids based on predetermined specifications.
11. Manage supplier quality issues causing block stock and work with QA, SQE, and CM for resolution, including RMA/RTV.
12. Manage invoice exceptions (VIM) and resolve issues with suppliers and finance.
13. Maintain material master/Purchasing Info Record in SAP to optimize purchasing methods or support NPI, reviewing monthly for active materials.

Traits of a Strong Candidate:

1. Bachelor's degree in Business Administration/Management or related.
2. Experience with SAP systems.
3. At least 3 years of direct procurement buyer-related experience.
4. Flexibility to adapt to changing demands and schedules.
5. Detail-oriented with a relentless ability to follow up on issue resolution.
6. Good time management skills with the ability to multitask competing priorities.
7. Strong interpersonal skills.
