The Direct Material Purchaser will manage tactical procurement and vendor sourcing for raw materials, sub-assemblies, and production components to support manufacturing schedules and inventory targets. Reporting directly to the Purchasing Supervisor, this role is responsible for executing Purchase Orders (POs) based on Material Requirements Planning (MRP) outputs while driving cost optimization across the supply chain.
Serving as a key commercial link between manufacturing operations and vendors, you will audit local suppliers based on Quality, Cost, Delivery, and Service (QCDS), negotiate commercial terms, track raw material market trends, and manage supplier non-conformance claims to maintain seamless line availability.
Job Description
- Material Procurement & MRP Execution
- Order Processing: Procure direct raw materials, parts, and production components aligned with MRP system triggers, master production schedules, and safety stock targets.
- Inventory Alignment: Monitor open purchase order status and coordinate closely with planning and logistics teams to ensure On-Time Delivery (OTD) and prevent line-stop scenarios.
- Supplier Sourcing & QCDS Evaluation
- Vendor Onboarding: Source, evaluate, and onboard local supply chain vendors in accordance with Quality, Cost, Delivery, and Service (QCDS) benchmarks.
- Market & Cost Management: Track raw material pricing trends, negotiate purchase pricing and payment terms, and execute strategic cost-reduction initiatives to meet annual corporate saving targets.
- Vendor Quality & Claim Management
- Non-Conformance Claims: Manage material non-conformance reports (NCARs) in partnership with Quality Assurance teams.
- Returns & Debits: Issue supplier debit notes, oversee component returns or replacements, and ensure corrective actions are taken by suppliers to prevent recurring quality defects.
Requirements
- Academic Credentials: Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Professional Tenure: Minimum 1 to 3 years of hands-on direct material procurement experience within a manufacturing environment.
- System Expertise: Familiarity with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP/SAP) systems, Material Requirements Planning (MRP) workflows, and purchasing data administration.
- Commercial Skills: Solid understanding of vendor auditing, open-cost calculation, contract negotiation, and supply chain risk mitigation.
