A major player in the insurance industry, Hong Leong Assurance is seeking a Product Development Manager to lead the development of innovative digital insurance products. This role encompasses market research, product design, and stakeholder collaboration to deliver products that meet business goals and customer needs. With a strong understanding of the life insurance market and regulatory requirements, the ideal candidate will excel in a dynamic environment while driving the product lifecycle from concept through to launch.
Responsible for leading the development of new digital insurance products, from concept to launch. This involves market research, product design, collaborating with stakeholders, and managing the product lifecycle, ensuring alignment with business goals and customer needs. This role involves understanding of regulatory requirements, and company objectives to create competitive and profitable digital channel products.
Product Design and Development:
Working with the Product Development Team to create user-friendly and innovative digital insurance products, including features, functionality, and user interfaces. Ensuring that all product development activities comply with relevant insurance regulations and legal requirements. "
Market Research and Analysis:
Conducting research on the competitive landscape, identifying market opportunities, and analyzing customer needs for digital insurance product development. "
Product Vision and Strategy:
Defining a clear product vision, developing a product roadmap, and setting both short-term and long-term goals for the product. "
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Collaborating with various teams, including marketing, sales, operations, legal, and compliance, to ensure a smooth product development process and alignment with business objectives. "
Product Launch and Go-to-Market Strategy:
Developing and executing go-to-market strategies, including marketing campaigns, promotional activities, and sales enablement. "
Product Performance Monitoring and Optimization:
Tracking product performance, analyzing key metrics, and making data-driven decisions to optimize the product and improve user experience. "
Stakeholder Management:
Managing relationships with key stakeholders, including senior management, partners, and customers, to ensure alignment and support for the product. "
Ensure compliance with Company and Regulatory policies and regulations. Other duties as required by the Management.
Job Requirement
Bachelor’s Degree in Actuarial Science, Economics, Marketing, or a related discipline
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in life insurance product design, development, or management, or a related field
Solid understanding of life insurance products, market dynamics, and regulatory frameworks
Strong grasp of the insurance industry landscape and emerging digital technologies
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams
Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced work environment

Moving forward, the General Insurance business would be provided by MSIM, while the life insurance business would continue to be provided by HLA.
