Job summary

Focal Consulting in Kuala Lumpur seeks a DevOps Engineer to manage AWS cloud infrastructure, build CI/CD pipelines, and drive system reliability.

You will implement IaC with Terraform or CloudFormation, containerize workloads with Docker and Kubernetes (EKS), and oversee monitoring with CloudWatch, Prometheus, and Grafana. The role requires 3+ years in DevOps or cloud operations and a focus on automation and security.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/IT/engineering or related field.
• Minimum 3+ years in DevOps, cloud infrastructure, or systems engineering.
• Strong Linux administration and scripting skills (Bash/Python).
• Hands-on AWS experience with an emphasis on reliability and cost efficiency.
• Familiarity with IaC (Terraform/CloudFormation) and container orchestration (Docker/Kubernetes).

Role Summary

Manage AWS cloud infrastructure, build CI/CD pipelines, and drive system reliability and automation.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Cloud Infrastructure Management: Manage, scale, and optimize production AWS environments (EC2, VPC, RDS, S3, IAM) focusing on high availability, security, and cost efficiency.
• CI/CD & Automation: Build and maintain automated CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins) for seamless testing, deployments, and rollbacks.
• Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Provision and manage version-controlled, repeatable cloud infrastructure using Terraform or CloudFormation to minimize manual overhead.
• Containers & Orchestration: Deploy, operate, and maintain containerized workloads using Docker, Amazon ECS, and Kubernetes (Amazon EKS).
• Monitoring, Security & Reliability: Implement centralized logging and alerting (CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana), lead root cause investigations, and enforce strict IAM security and backup policies.

Requirements

• Education: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
• Experience: 3+ years of professional DevOps, Cloud Infrastructure, or Systems Engineering experience supporting live production environments.
• Core Technical Skills: Strong hands-on proficiency in AWS cloud services, Linux administration, Docker, Git, CI/CD pipelines, and Terraform (or equivalent IaC tools).
• Scripting & Networking: Solid foundation in networking fundamentals (subnets, routing, firewalls) and scripting skills (Bash, Python, or PowerShell).
• Preferred Skills: Experience with Kubernetes/EKS, multi-cloud (Azure/GCP), on-premise infrastructure, Ansible, Nginx, Cloudflare, and database administration.
• Candidate Profile: High ownership of production reliability, strong troubleshooting and incident-handling mindset, and the ability to automate repetitive operational tasks.
