Deputy Dean, Faculty of Business

Job Purpose:

  • Drive strategic business growth of the University Academy through corporate partnerships and B2B education solutions.
  • Lead client acquisition, engagement, and retention efforts with corporate, government, and industry stakeholders.
  • Develop and deliver future-ready, customised learning programs aligned with workforce transformation needs.
  • Oversee commercial strategy, contract negotiations, and revenue generation to achieve business targets.
  • Strengthen the University's market presence as a trusted partner in executive education and talent development.

KeyResponsibilities:

  • Responsible for the faculty administration, staff management, academic workload distribution, staff performance monitoring and development plans.
  • Manage and report on the processes of student assessment and annual review of student progress.
  • Provide strong operational academic leadership across the faculty to deliver an excellent student experience through a combination of education, research, and professional practice.
  • Work with the Executive Dean to develop academic policies and processes to enhance teaching and learning quality in collaboration with the SMEs.
  • To take a lead role in working with SMEs and PLs to ensure excellence in student experience and the implementation of the faculty’s strategic plans.
  • Together with the Executive Dean and SMEs, develop and lead initiatives in education and professional practice to broaden the academic appeal and footprint of the faculty, ensuring innovation and CARE graduate attributes underpin the student experience.
  • Collaborate with the Graduate School to drive the graduate employability agenda through high-quality education and student experience that is academically and professionally relevant.
  • Takes responsibility for academic quality assurance and enhancement.
  • Lead and planning of programs, resource management, budgeting, overseeing student recruitment and retention, curriculum development, reviews and assessment processes are executed effectively and efficiently.
  • Continuously stay abreast of legislative developments to comply with the requirements of the appropriate authorities (e.g. MOHE and MQA).

  • Online Learning & International Linkage:
    • Support the Executive Dean and Business Development (BD) indeveloping a new academic program or Micro-Credentials Program (MCP).
    • Work closely with BD to bridge industry requests with internal academicexpertise to produce the Micro-Credentials Program (MCP) timely.
    • Drive and collaborate with T&L to facilitate the training of facultymembers in the use of technology in online learning aligned to academicians’ development and other professional requirements.
    • Identify, review, and evaluate available online courses andeducational materials with the Executive Dean and SMEs forpedagogical soundness, instructional integrity and accessibility following relevant authorities.
    • Review and evaluate existing online learning courses and programs forinstructional effectiveness and student satisfaction in coordination withthe Programme Leaders.
    • Monitor the growth of the online programs in terms of studentenrolments, Faculty’s performance, teaching and learning quality, andtheir impacts on student experience and employability, and make appropriate recommendations for policies, technological and support infrastructures.
    • Ensure smooth execution of all operational matters of the faculty (foronline learning), i.e. budgeting, student recruitment and retention,academic hiring, resource management, curriculum development,review, and assessment processes.
    • Continuously stay abreast of legislative developments to comply withthe requirements of the appropriate authorities (e.g. MOHE and MQA).
    • Must be well-versed with LMS and other Universities’ systems to easestudent registration, data input and other relevant requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Related PhD or Master's degree with a minimum of 8 years working experience in academic management, including 4 years related practice experience; or
  • Master's degree from recognised university with a minimum of 10 years teaching experience, including 5 years related practice experience / academic management.

Skills / ExperienceRequirements:

  • Significant academic leadership experience, preferably with oversight of multi-regional or national programs.
  • Strong understanding of adult education, curriculum design, andacademic quality assurance.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead academic teams and coordinate acrossdiverse campuses or delivery units.
  • Good organisational, analytical and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong written and spoken communication skills.
  • Well-versed with LMS and other Universities’ systems.
