Job Title: Deputy Contract Manager

Location: Johor, Malaysia

Industry: Construction / Main Contractor

Reporting to: Director - Contract

Job Overview:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Deputy Contract Manager to join our team in Johor. The ideal candidate will support the Contract Manager in overseeing all contractual and commercial aspects of construction projects. This role is critical to ensuring compliance with contract terms, optimizing project costs, and minimizing risks throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Contract Manager in reviewing, preparing, and managing contract documents, claims, and variations.
  • Monitor project budgets and cost controls, ensuring alignment with contract requirements.
  • Coordinate with site teams, consultants, and clients to ensure timely progress claims, certifications, and payments.
  • Support tendering and procurement processes, including subcontractor selection and contract negotiations.
  • Evaluate and track variations, change orders, and extension of time (EOT) claims.
  • Ensure adherence to contractual obligations and legal requirements.
  • Assist in resolving any contractual disputes or issues.
  • Prepare cost reports, forecasts, and commercial updates for management review.
  • Maintain proper documentation and records in line with company policies and audit standards.
  • Work closely with project teams to ensure commercial strategies are effectively implemented.

Requirements:

  • Degree or Diploma in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in contract administration, preferably with a main contractor.
  • Solid understanding of construction contracts (e.g., PAM, CIDB, JKR, or FIDIC).
  • Strong analytical and negotiation skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and contract administration software.
  • Good command of English and Bahasa Malaysia, both written and spoken.
  • Willing to be based in Johor and travel to site as required.
