Job summary

Sunway Specialist Centre Damansara is seeking a diligent Dental Assistant to support dentists during examinations, treatments and procedures. You will prepare rooms, instruments and materials, ensure sterilisation, and provide chairside assistance to ensure patient comfort and safety.

As part of a busy outpatient clinic, you will handle registration, scheduling and record-keeping while maintaining inventory and infection control standards.

Qualifications

• Certificate/Diploma in Dental Assisting or equivalent qualification.
• Minimum 2-3 years' experience in a dental clinic or healthcare setting is preferred.
• Good knowledge of dental instruments, sterilisation and infection control practices.
• Pleasant personality with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Patient-focused, organised and able to work effectively in a fast-paced outpatient environment.
• Computer literate and familiar with clinic management systems is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Dentist during examinations, treatments and dental procedures.
• Prepare treatment rooms, instruments and materials before each procedure.
• Ensure proper sterilisation, disinfection and maintenance of dental instruments and equipment.
• Provide chairside assistance while maintaining patient comfort and safety.
• Prepare patients for treatment and explain basic pre- and post-treatment care instructions.
• Manage appointment scheduling, patient registration and maintain accurate clinical records.
• Monitor inventory levels and ensure adequate stock of dental supplies and consumables.
• Ensure the dental clinic complies with infection control, safety and regulatory standards.
• Perform routine housekeeping of the dental clinic to maintain a clean, organised and welcoming environment.
• Work closely with the multidisciplinary Ambulatory Care Centre team to deliver a seamless patient experience.
• Undertake other duties as assigned by the Head of Department.
