Job description

With the approval of the Ministry of Higher Education, Malaysia, Manipal International University was renamed as MILA University in 2023. To establish a leading business school in Asia, MILA University is inviting applications for Dean role.

Responsibilities:

Dean is the academic and administrative head of the school. The responsibilities include, but not limited to, the following:

  • Provide academic leadership for the development and implementation of the School’s strategic and operational plans.
  • Implement policies and initiatives to enhance academic excellence and student success.
  • Lead in the recruitment and retainment of the members of the School.
  • Promote academic and research excellence to enhance the reputation of the School.
  • Oversee new programme development and continual quality improvement of existing programmes to ensure alignment with accreditation standards and industry trends.
  • Manage workload distribution among the faculty members.
  • Encourage and ensure the faculty members are actively involved in research (including publications, presentations, obtaining external grants, etc.).
  • The slow learners are identified early in the semester and are provided with additional academic support.
  • Address academic and non-academic issues affecting students.
  • Implement student monitoring, such as attendance, academic performance, etc., and initialize appropriate remedial measures if needed.
  • Ensure that all the documents are complete and are in position for the accreditation processes.
  • Develop collaborations with industries for industrial training and placement of students.
  • Conduct academic and administrative meetings relevant to the School
  • Maintain relevant records of the School meeting and implement the necessary decisions.
  • Foster a sense of teamwork and collaboration among the School's staff
  • Prepare the annual budget and optimize the utilization of resources.
  • Any other responsibility entrusted by the University management from time to time.

Requirements:

  • A doctorate degree in the relevant discipline.
  • At least five years of leadership experience within higher education industry.
  • Proven track record of excellence in educational leadership and innovative practices.
  • Widely recognized for excellence and impact in research.
  • High-level collaborative leadership skills to create a culture of high performance and collegiality.
  • Outstanding communication skills and the ability to work with diverse stakeholders.
  • Track record of a wide network of established relationships with key academic, industry, and professional/government institutions.
  • High-level skills in strategic planning, decision-making, quality management, change management, financial sustainability, and staff management.
