Tech Mahindra is seeking a seasoned Database SME (Microsoft SQL Server) to manage and optimize SQL Server databases across cloud and on-premises environments. You will be the technical authority for database services, ensuring high availability, security, and performance for critical systems.

Responsibilities include designing HA/DR solutions, performing performance tuning, and leading upgrades and migrations while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in Microsoft SQL Server database administration.
• Proven experience supporting enterprise-scale database environments across cloud and on-premises platforms.
• Strong expertise in Microsoft SQL Server (2016/2019/2022), Azure SQL Database and Azure SQL Managed Instance.
• Database performance tuning and optimization, high availability and disaster recovery solutions, backup/recovery strategies.
• T-SQL and PowerShell scripting; security controls, access management, encryption and compliance.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.

Responsabilités

• Ensure database availability, performance, capacity, security, and operational stability.
• Design, implement, and support high-availability and disaster recovery solutions (Always On, clustering, replication).
• Perform database performance analysis and optimization, including query tuning, indexing, and execution plan review.
• Lead database upgrade, migration, patching, and modernization initiatives.
• Implement and maintain database security controls, access management, encryption, and compliance requirements.
• Develop and maintain automation scripts and operational processes using T-SQL and PowerShell.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex database incidents and conduct root cause analysis.
• Collaborate with application, infrastructure, and cloud teams to deliver scalable database services.
• Maintain technical documentation, standards, procedures, and runbooks.
• Provide Level 3 support for production environments and participate in major incident management.

Database Subject Matter Expert (SME) – Microsoft SQL Server

Role Summary

The Database Subject Matter Expert (SME) is responsible for the administration, maintenance, optimization, and support of Microsoft SQL Server platforms across cloud and on-premises environments. The role serves as the technical authority for database services, ensuring high levels of availability, performance, security, and resilience for business-critical systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer, monitor, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server databases across enterprise environments.
• Ensure database availability, performance, capacity, security, and operational stability.
• Design, implement, and support high-availability and disaster recovery solutions, including Always On Availability Groups, clustering, replication, and backup/recovery strategies.
• Perform database performance analysis and optimization, including query tuning, indexing strategies, and execution plan review.
• Lead database upgrade, migration, patching, and modernization initiatives.
• Implement and maintain database security controls, access management, encryption, and compliance requirements.
• Develop and maintain automation scripts and operational processes using T-SQL and PowerShell.

• Collaborate with application, infrastructure, and cloud teams to deliver reliable and scalable database services.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in Microsoft SQL Server database administration.
• Proven experience supporting enterprise-scale database environments across cloud and on-premises platforms.
• Strong expertise in:
• Microsoft SQL Server (2016/2019/2022)
• Azure SQL Database and Azure SQL Managed Instance
• Database performance tuning and optimization
• High availability and disaster recovery solutions
• Backup, recovery, and data protection strategies
• T-SQL and PowerShell scripting
• Sound understanding of database security, access controls, encryption, and compliance requirements.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Microsoft certifications such as DP-300, AZ-104, or AZ-305.
• Experience with Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Azure Arc, and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or Bicep).
• Familiarity with ITIL-based service management practices.
