About the role
We are looking for a technically skilled and solution-orientedData Engineerwith 1 to 2 years of relevant experience in cloud-based data infrastructure, data pipeline development, and engineering best practices. This role will focus on building and optimizing scalable data systems, enabling analytics and business intelligence teams to access clean, reliable, and timely data for high-impact decision-making across the region.
As part of the APAC Data Solutions Delivery team, you’ll work on high-visibility projects for some of the world’s most recognized brands, collaborating with cross-functional teams across data, technology, and business domains. This role is based in Malaysia and aligned to our Asia Pacific Centre of Excellence.

This role reports to an Associate Director / Director in the Choreograph APAC Data Solutions [Delivery] team.

Measures of Success
In One Month, You Will:
- Gain a deep understanding of Choreograph’s data architecture, platforms, and engineering workflows.
- Contribute to ongoing data pipeline projects and assist with data ingestion and transformation tasks.
- Establish strong working relationships with internal technical stakeholders.
In Three Months, You Will:
- Design and build robust, reusable, and scalable data pipelines using best practices.
- Ensure high-quality data delivery through monitoring, automation, and optimization.
- Collaborate with data analysts and scientists to support downstream analytics requirements.
In Six Months, You Will:
- Take ownership of end-to-end data engineering workstreams.
- Drive improvements in data pipeline reliability, performance, and documentation.
- Actively contribute to technical design discussions and architectural decisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Data Pipeline Development:Design, develop, and maintain batch and streaming ETL/ELT pipelines using SQL, Python, and modern orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow, dbt).
- Cloud Infrastructure:Build and manage scalable data workflows using cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Data Modeling:Design efficient data schemas and storage strategies for structured and semi-structured data.
- Automation & Optimization:Automate data workflows, conduct performance tuning, and implement monitoring and alerting systems.
- Collaboration:Partner with data analysts, scientists, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into robust engineering solutions.
- Data Governance:Implement and uphold data quality, security, and lineage standards across projects.
- Documentation & Versioning:Maintain clear documentation and use version control systems like Git for reproducibility and collaboration.
Skills and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related technical field.
- 1-2 years of experience in a data engineering, data platform, or backend data development role.
- Strong command of SQL and experience with building data pipelines and transformations.
- Proficiency in Python for data manipulation, scripting, and automation.
- Hands-on experience with cloud services (AWS/GCP/Azure), particularly for data processing and storage.
- Familiarity with data pipeline orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow, Prefect) and data build tools (e.g., dbt).
- Understanding of data modeling techniques, warehousing concepts, and performance optimization.
- Comfortable working in a collaborative, cross-functional environment with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Nice to Have
- Experience with big data technologies like Spark, Hadoop, or Kafka.
- Exposure to infrastructure-as-code (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation).
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps principles.
- Working knowledge of security best practices in cloud-based data engineering.
- Awareness of data governance frameworks and metadata management.
