Job summary

NTT DATA is seeking a Data Centre Service Delivery Field Support Engineer (L2) in Malaysia to manage day‑to‑day operation, monitoring, maintenance and support of cloud and virtualized infrastructure. The role requires 2–3 years in infrastructure or cloud operations in an ITIL/SLA‑driven environment.

You will troubleshoot incidents, perform changes and contribute to continuous improvement, working with network, security and application teams to ensure high availability and security.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years of experience in infrastructure, virtualization or cloud operations.
• Hands-on experience supporting enterprise production environments.
• Experience working in an ITIL/SLA-driven operational environment.
• Experience with incident, problem and change management.

Responsibilities

• Operate and support enterprise cloud infrastructure (VMware vSphere/VCF/ESXi/vCenter/vSAN/NSX).
• Perform health checks, capacity monitoring and performance optimization.
• Manage VMs, clusters, resource allocation and lifecycle activities.
• Support deployment, migration, upgrades and expansion of cloud infrastructure.

Job Purpose

Responsible for the day-to-day operation, monitoring, maintenance and support of cloud and virtualized infrastructure, ensuring high availability, performance, security and compliance. The engineer will provide L2 operational support, troubleshoot infrastructure incidents, perform changes and participate in infrastructure projects and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

1. Cloud & Virtualization Operations

• Operate and support enterprise cloud infrastructure, including VMware vSphere/VCF, ESXi, vCenter, vSAN and NSX.


• Perform infrastructure health checks, capacity monitoring and performance optimization.


• Manage virtual machines, clusters, resource allocation and infrastructure lifecycle activities.


• Support cloud infrastructure deployment, migration, upgrade and expansion activities.


• Troubleshoot compute, storage and virtualization issues.


• Monitor infrastructure availability, performance, capacity and service health.


• Respond to infrastructure alerts and incidents within agreed SLA.


• Perform troubleshooting, root-cause analysis and problem management.


• Escalate complex issues to L3, vendors or technology SMEs when required.


• Participate in major incident management and service restoration.

3. Network & Security Operations

• Support NSX security policies, micro‑segmentation and network connectivity troubleshooting.


• Work with network and security teams on infrastructure changes and incident resolution.


• Ensure infrastructure operations comply with security and access‑control requirements.

4. Change & Configuration Management

• Execute infrastructure changes according to approved change‑management procedures.


• Perform patching, firmware/software upgrades and configuration changes.


• Conduct pre‑change validation and post‑change verification.


• Maintain configuration baselines and infrastructure documentation.


• Ensure unauthorized changes are identified and reported.


• Identify opportunities to automate repetitive operational activities.


• Develop or use PowerCLI, PowerShell, Python is advantageous


• Improve monitoring, alerting and operational dashboards.


• Reduce manual activities, recurring incidents and MTTR through automation.


• Work with technology vendors such as Broadcom/VMware, hardware vendors and service providers.


• Coordinate technical troubleshooting and support cases.


• Provide technical updates during incidents and infrastructure maintenance.


• Collaborate with application, network, security and service‑management teams.

Required Technical Skills

• VMware vSphere / ESXi / vCenter


• VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) — preferably VCF 8/9


• vSAN


• NSX / software‑defined networking


• Windows and/or Linux administration


• Network fundamentals: TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLAN, routing


• Firewall and security fundamentals


• Monitoring and log‑management platforms


• PowerCLI / PowerShell / Python is advantageous


• ITIL / Incident, Problem and Change Management

Preferred Certifications

• VCP-VCF


• VCP-DCV


• VMware/VCF‑related certifications


• ITIL Foundation


• Cloud certifications such as AWS/Azure/GCP

Experience

• 2 -3 years of experience in infrastructure, virtualization or cloud operations.


• Hands‑on experience supporting enterprise production environments.


• Experience working in an ITIL/SLA-driven operational environment.


• Experience with incident, problem and change management.


• Experience supporting 24×7 environments or on‑call operations is advantageous
