Job summary

GCI SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY (MALAYSIA) SDN. BHD is seeking an Installation Technician to perform server rack installations, cable management, and hardware mounting. The role involves site surveys, data center setup, and coordinating with project teams to ensure timely deployment.

The candidate will maintain installation records, adhere to SOPs and safety guidelines, and provide on-site support for maintenance and upgrades as required.

Qualifications

• Experience performing server rack installation and hardware mounting.
• Ability to execute structured cable management to industry standards.
• Familiar with site surveys, deployment, and data center setup basics.
• Strong documentation habits and adherence to SOPs.

Responsibilities

• Perform server rack installation and physical mounting of servers and network devices.
• Execute structured cable management (Cat6/Fiber) with proper routing and labeling.
• Install, replace, and remove IT equipment including PDUs and storage devices.
• Support site surveys, infrastructure deployment, and data center setup activities.
• Coordinate with project teams, engineers and customers for timely deployment.
• Maintain accurate installation records and asset inventories.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and SOPs on site.
• Provide onsite technical support and preventive maintenance as required.

Job description

Perform server rack installation and physical mounting of servers, network devices, and related hardware.

Execute structured cable management (Cat6/Fiber), including routing, labeling, and organizing cables according to industry standards.

Install, replace, and remove IT equipment such as servers, switches, storage devices, and power distribution units (PDUs).

Support site surveys, infrastructure deployment, and data center setup activities.

Assist with equipment relocation, rack organization, and hardware upgrades.

Perform basic hardware diagnostics, installation verification, and functionality testing.

Coordinate with project teams, engineers, and customers to ensure timely and accurate deployment.

Maintain accurate installation records, asset inventories, and documentation.

Ensure compliance with Data Center safety regulations, security policies, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Keep the work area clean and organized while adhering to quality standards and best practices.

Support preventive maintenance and respond to onsite technical support requests when required.

Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor to support project and operational requirements.
