Job summary

A data services company located in Malaysia is seeking a professional for hardware monitoring and data centre management. The role requires at least 1 year of relevant experience and Category 2 Security Clearance. Responsibilities include monitoring server health, managing backups, and enforcing access control. Work hours are Monday to Friday, from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Competitive contract duration of 8 months with potential for extension.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of relevant experience in a data centre environment.
• Category 2 Security Clearance (Cat 2).
• Familiar with basic hardware checks and incident escalation procedures.

Responsibilities

• Monitor server and network device status and health.
• Perform regular visual inspections and check device indicators/alerts.
• Log and escalate hardware or network faults in a timely manner.
• Manage backup tape rotations and perform media management tasks.
• Check temperature, humidity, and power status in the data centre.
• Enforce access control policies and escort contractors/vendors as required.
• Maintain inventory of equipment, spare parts, and consumables.
• Assist during scheduled power maintenance.

Job description

Contract Duration: 8 months (with potential 12-month extension)
Start Date: 1st August 2025
End Date: 31st March 2026
Extension Option: 1st April 2026 – 31st March 2027

Location of Service:

• Initially at Alexandra area
• After 3 months, relocation to Lavender area

Working Hours:

• Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM
• Saturday (only during pre-planned activities or incidents)

Job Responsibilities:

• Incident Response: Log and escalate hardware or network faults in a timely manner
• Tape Handling: Manage backup tape rotations and perform media management tasks
• Environmental Monitoring: Check temperature, humidity, and power status in the data centre
• Access Control: Enforce access control policies and escort contractors/vendors as required
• Inventory Management: Maintain inventory of equipment, spare parts, and consumables
• Support in Power Maintenance Activities: Assist during scheduled power maintenance
