Job summary

Google LLC is hiring an Operations Technician in Malaysia to install, configure, test, troubleshoot and maintain data center hardware and server software. You will handle networks, routers and switches, and participate in small project teams for larger installations.

The role involves moving equipment, configuring complex components, and ensuring reliability across Google's data centers. Fluency in English and physical ability to lift equipment are required.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Deploy and operate new data center infrastructure across projects or teams (e.g., machine learning platforms, network architecture).
• Report issues and follow data center procedures to troubleshoot and diagnose moderately complex issues with equipment or infrastructure as they arise, and identify the resources needed to resolve identified issues.
• Diagnose, repair, and perform preventative maintenance on equipment, servers, machines, and infrastructure based on identified issues with multiple solutions, independently.
• Execute advanced operational procedures as part of daily work activities and follow security policies and processes and shift work is required to meet evolving business needs and operational schedules.
• Collaborate with the partner teams (e.g., Program Managers, Data Center Operations, Software and Hardware Engineers) to complete tasks, to elevate and resolve defined problems.

Preferred qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Arts or Science or equivalent practical experience.
• 2 years of experience in troubleshooting hardware and network issues using Linux tools (e.g., LPIC-1, CCNA).
• Proven experience in maintenance of server and storage systems.
• Experience working within a data center or network operation center environment.
• Solid understanding of networking concepts, including topology and protocols.
• Ability to communicate in English fluently to support client relationship management in this region.
