Job summary

Jora Malaysia seeks an experienced Electrical Engineer to lead electrical design for data centre and mission-critical infrastructure projects. The role requires a Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering, 5+ years of relevant experience, and strong knowledge of MV/LV distribution, transformers, UPS, batteries and busduct systems.

Experience with AutoCAD is required; Revit/BIM and electrical calculation software would be advantageous.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent recognised qualification.
Minimum 5 years of relevant electrical engineering experience.
8+ years preferred for senior candidates.
Strong experience in electrical power distribution and engineering design.
Data centre or mission-critical facility experience preferred.
Familiarity with MV/LV switchgear, transformers, LV switchboards, UPS, batteries, generators and busduct systems.
Able to review electrical SLDs, schematics and drawings.
Familiarity with IEC standards and electrical design practices.
Experience with AutoCAD is required; experience with Revit/BIM and electrical engineering calculation software would be an advantage.
Strong technical problem-solving and engineering coordination skills.
Good written and spoken English.
Able to communicate confidently with clients, consultants, vendors and other engineering disciplines.
Able to work independently with minimal supervision.

The ideal candidate would have previous experience involving: Data centre electrical infrastructure, Mission-critical power systems, MV/LV power distribution, UPS and battery systems, Transformer and switchgear systems, Generator and emergency power systems, Busduct / busway distribution, Electrical protection and coordination, BMS / EPMS electrical interfaces, FAT, SAT and commissioning activities.

Responsibilities

Lead and support the electrical design and engineering activities for data centre and mission-critical infrastructure projects.
Prepare and review electrical SLD, schematics, equipment layouts, cable containment layouts and electrical installation drawings.
Perform and/or review electrical engineering calculations including: Load schedules and load calculations; Transformer and generator sizing; UPS and battery system sizing; Cable sizing and voltage drop calculations; Short-circuit calculations; Protection and circuit breaker sizing; Earthing and bonding requirements; Electrical equipment heat load calculations.
Review and coordinate electrical power distribution systems including MV switchgear, transformers, LV switchboards, UPS systems, batteries, busduct/busway, generators, ATS/STS and distribution boards.
Review vendor technical submissions, equipment datasheets, drawings and technical compliance against project specifications.
Prepare and respond to technical queries, RFIs, design comments and consultant/client comments.
Participate in design review, technical coordination and client meetings.
Identify potential design issues, interface conflicts and technical risks and recommend practical engineering solutions.
Support equipment selection and technical evaluation of vendors and suppliers.
Assist in preparing technical specifications, equipment schedules, design reports and other engineering documentation.
Ensure electrical designs comply with applicable project requirements, codes and standards.
