Job summary

GCI Science & Technology (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. is seeking a Data Centre Engineer to perform server rack installation, cable management, and hardware deployment in a data center environment in Malaysia.

The role covers site surveys, equipment relocation, diagnostics, and adherence to safety SOPs and best practices, with collaboration across project teams to ensure timely deployments. Experience with Cat6/Fiber, PDUs, racks and asset inventories is valued; companionship with multi-vendor

Responsibilities

• Perform server rack installation and physical mounting of servers, network devices, and related hardware.
• Execute structured cable management (Cat6/Fiber), including routing, labeling, and organizing cables according to industry standards.
• Install, replace, and remove IT equipment such as servers, switches, storage devices, and power distribution units (PDUs).
• Support site surveys, infrastructure deployment, and data center setup activities.
• Assist with equipment relocation, rack organization, and hardware upgrades.
• Perform basic hardware diagnostics, installation verification, and functionality testing.
• Coordinate with project teams, engineers, and customers to ensure timely and accurate deployment.
• Maintain accurate installation records, asset inventories, and documentation.
• Ensure compliance with Data Center safety regulations, security policies, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Keep the work area clean and organized while adhering to quality standards and best practices.
• Support preventive maintenance and respond to onsite technical support requests when required.
• Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor to support project and operational requirements.
