Job description

The Data Analyst will be responsible for collecting, processing, analyzing, and interpreting data to support climate mitigation initiatives, carbon credit projects, and related sustainability programs. The role will involve working closely with the Carbon Team to assess project performance, market trends, and methodology requirements, while ensuring data integrity and compliance with relevant carbon standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Data Collection & Management
  • Gather, clean, and validate datasets from various sources including project partners, carbon registries, and public datasets
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date databases for carbon projects, emissions reductions, and market prices
  • Analysis & Insights
  • Conduct quantitative and qualitative analysis to support feasibility studies and carbon credit project development
  • Develop dashboards, reports, and data visualizations to present findings to internal teams and stakeholders
  • Perform emissions reduction calculations in line with applicable carbon methodologies
  • Market & Methodology Research
  • Monitor trends in carbon credit markets, including pricing, demand, and policy changes
  • Research relevant carbon credit methodologies and assess applicability for new projects
  • Analyze competitor activities and market gaps for potential opportunities
  • Reporting & Compliance
  • Prepare regular reports for management on project performance, KPIs, and market outlook
  • Support compliance with verification and registry requirements for carbon credits
  • Collaboration
  • Work with the project development team to optimize project design for higher carbon yield
  • Provide analytical support during stakeholder presentations, proposals, and tenders

Requirements

  • Education
  • Degree in Data Science, Environmental Science, Statistics, Economics, or related field
  • Technical Skills
  • Strong proficiency in Excel and at least one data analysis tool (Python, R, SQL, or Power BI)
  • Experience with GIS tools is a plus
  • Knowledge Areas
  • Understanding of carbon credits, climate change mitigation, or sustainability is preferred
  • Familiarity with carbon accounting methodologies (Verra, Gold Standard, CDM, JCM) is advantageous
  • Soft Skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Attention to detail and high data accuracy
  • Good communication skills to explain technical findings to non-technical stakeholders
