Job summary

Bank Negara Malaysia is seeking a Cyber Defence Lead for the Cyber Security Department in Kuala Lumpur. You will drive the CDU roadmap, oversee 24x7 cyber defence operations, including SOC, SIEM, and DFIR capabilities, and ensure effective threat detection and incident response.

You will lead security frameworks, playbooks, and drill exercises while coordinating with the Threat Unit and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Cyber/Information Technology, Security, networks and security, or forensic computing.
• At least 8+ years hands-on experience in cybersecurity surveillance, threats and related fields.
• Knowledge of infrastructure and application security is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Lead, establish and continuously enhance the CDU roadmap, strategy and operating model.
• Provide leadership and governance for 24×7 cyber defence operations including SOC, SIEM, and DFIR capabilities.
• Oversee SIEM and security monitoring to ensure threat detection, alerting, log visibility and detection readiness for SOC operations and incident response.
• Develop and maintain cyber defence frameworks, technologies, processes and procedures for effective monitoring, incident handling and recovery.
• Coordinate the CSIRP, playbooks, runbooks and cyber drill exercises ensuring readiness and regulatory alignment.
• Lead technical leadership for cyber defence planning, including deployment of security technologies and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Manage internal teams and outsourced providers to ensure surveillance and response activities meet policies and service levels.
• Ensure timely delivery of cyber defences and escalation where required to minimise business impact.
• Collaborate with CTU Head to align defence activities with threat intelligence, hunting and vulnerability management.
