Job description

Key Responsibilities:

To manage and oversee all customs clearance activities while leading the transition from a shipment/import-oriented workflow to a product- and category-driven customs structure. This role ensures full compliance with customs regulations and drives operational excellence by aligning customs procedures with our evolving product-based supply chain model.

Customs Clearance Operations

  • Oversee all import and export customs clearance activities across ports and airports.
  • Ensure accurate documentation, timely submission, and full regulatory compliance.
  • Liaise with customs authorities, inspection bodies, and appointed clearing agents.
  • Handle exceptions, customs holds, audits, and dispute resolution.
  • Ensure accurate and timely submission of customs documentation.
  • Resolve clearance issues and minimize delays and/or penalties.

Client & Vendor Management

  • Serve as the primary contact for clients on customs-related matters.
  • Coordinate with vendors, CHAs, and transporters for smooth operations.

Regulatory Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with customs laws, trade regulations, and licensing requirements.
  • Stay updated with changes in EXIM policies and HS Code classifications.

Team Management & Coordination

  • Manage and train customs and documentation staff.
  • Allocate resources to meet operational deadlines efficiently.

Reporting & Analysis

  • Maintain records of shipments, duty payments, and clearance timelines.
  • Generate reports for management on performance and cost efficiency.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in the logistics industry, with at least 5 years in customs clearance/import team management
  • Proven leadership experience in managing teams
  • Ideally from mid-sized logistics companies or mid-management from global firms ready for the next step
  • Strong leadership and people management skills
  • Hands-on and solution-oriented operational management
