Job description

Crude Palm Oil Trader, Commodity Trading

We are seeking an experienced CPO (Crude Palm Oil) Trader to manage and optimize the trading, sourcing and delivery of physical CPO from suppliers to buyers. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in physical commodity trading, with expertise in managing logistics, negotiating deals, and ensuring the efficient flow of CPO from source to end-user.

This is a hands-on role that requires a deep understanding of market dynamics, supply chain management and commodity pricing.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Execute physical trades of crude palm oil (CPO), including spot and forward contracts.
  2. Monitor market prices, trends, and macroeconomic indicators to identify trading opportunities.
  3. Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers (mills, producers) and buyers (refineries, exporters, traders).
  4. Negotiate contract terms, delivery schedules, pricing, and quality specifications.
  5. Collaborate with logistics and operations teams to coordinate timely deliveries and resolve supply chain issues.
  6. Prepare and submit trade confirmations, contracts, and documentation in compliance with internal SOPs.
  7. Work closely with finance to monitor credit exposures, payment terms, and settlement timelines.
  8. Maintain and update internal trading records and systems, including volume tracking and margin monitoring.
  9. Assess and manage trading risk exposure in accordance with company limits and policies.
  10. Provide regular market intelligence, competitor analysis, and trading performance reports.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Supply Chain, or a related field.
  2. At least 4 years of experience in crude palm oil or related commodity trading.
  3. Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship management skills.
  4. Ability to work under pressure, meet targets, and adapt to a dynamic market environment.
