Job description

We are looking for a motivated, dynamic Credit Control Executive to join our team based out of our offices in various locations. Your responsibilities will be to look to reduce the long overdue debts and unallocated credit balances (>1 year) under the portfolios assigned.

To help achieve this, we will provide you with a competitive base salary, a highly rewarding collection incentive structure, and career opportunities. You will also receive full product training, with hands-on assistance from the Credit Control Manager and the Credit Control Team.


In this role, you will be responsible for:

  1. The primary objective for a Credit Controller is to collect the maximum value of outstanding debts at the earliest possible date. This involves effective communication with the debtor, usually by telephone, and enforcing routine adherence to agreed credit terms.
  2. Liaise closely with Service, Operation, and Customer Care teams to resolve payment issues through the Credit Control Feedback form.
  3. Spend maximum time on the telephone with customers who have not paid their account by the due date, maintain records of contacts (including date, action, commitments) in the system call card, and follow through to ensure issues are resolved and debts are collected promptly.
  4. Update the system after each telephone conversation.
  5. Monitor prompt issuance of reminder letters and statements according to company credit control policy.
  6. Prepare and process all debtor journals and AR adjustments.
  7. Process cash/cheque deposits for daily banking, ensure all current cheques are banked into the assigned account, and monitor post-dated cheque due dates.
  8. Propose credit notes and service stops for customers with outstanding debts to branch managers, and monitor promptness of actions.
  9. Monitor and reinforce procedures such as requesting extensions of credit terms of 30 days.
  10. Prepare documents for bad debt write-offs.
  11. Prepare reports and returns on debtors and collections.
  12. Update collection activities and outstanding status with the Credit Control Manager or Team Leader monthly.
  13. Achieve the KPI benchmarks set by management.
  14. Ensure prompt issuance of invoices and credit notes to customers through analysis submitted by branches.
  15. Immediately contact customers after invoice issuance.
  16. Ensure the accuracy of customer details in the database used for billing and collection.
  17. Perform other duties as assigned by your superior.

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A minimum of a Diploma in a related discipline with proven experience in Credit Control.
  • Able to work independently to meet collection targets.
  • Results-oriented, dynamic, creative, and self-driven.
  • Team player, customer-focused, proactive, with a sense of urgency and ownership.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written & oral), bilingual skills are an advantage.
  • Proficiency in computer skills is essential.
  • Applicant must be a Malaysian citizen or hold relevant residence status.

Highly Desirable:

  • Excellent credit collection, dispute resolution, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to reach and exceed collection targets.
  • Versatility in building rapport at all levels.
  • Multilingual in English and Bahasa Malaysia; ability to converse in other dialects is an advantage.
  • Commercially focused with good acumen.
