We are looking for an experienced and driven Credit Analyst (SME / Merchant Financing) to be the founding member of our new merchant financing business line under a leading payment acquiring company.
This is a unique opportunity to shape the foundation of the business — from credit framework design to hands-on portfolio evaluation. You’ll play a key role in designing the credit policies, SOPs, and contributing to the Loan Management System (LMS) and Loan Origination System (LOS) setup, while performing in-depth credit assessments on SMEs and merchants within our payment network.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive credit analysis on Merchants, evaluating business performance, repayment capacity, and risk profile.
- Establish and maintain credit scoring methodologies, underwriting parameters, and risk acceptance criteria for merchant financing.
- Design and document the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for credit assessment, approval, and review workflows.
- Collaborate with product, data, and system development teams to contribute to the design of LMS and LOS systems, ensuring they support efficient credit processes and compliance.
- Review financial statements, transactional data, and acquiring histories to determine loan terms, structure, and conditions.
- Present credit recommendations with clear justifications and risk mitigation strategies for approval.
- Monitor portfolio performance and recommend adjustments to improve credit quality and process efficiency.
- Support regulatory and compliance requirements related to lending and financing activities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field.
- 3–5 years of experience in credit analysis, underwriting, or SME financing (experience in fintech, payments, or merchant lending is an advantage).
- Strong analytical and financial modelling skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Familiarity with credit risk frameworks, loan system workflows, and regulatory requirements.
- Proactive, independent, and able to build frameworks and processes from the ground up.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for presenting credit cases and drafting policies.
