Job summary

OFS Malaysia, a MODEC Group company, invites applications for a Cost Controller to track, forecast and report costs on small projects in Malaysia, coordinating with stakeholders to prevent budget overruns.

Key duties include WBS-based cost recording, monitoring expenditure, cost forecasting, invoice and claims verification, work and purchase order reviews, and cost reporting; the role requires a Bachelor in Engineering, Accounting or Business Management and 1–3 years in project cost control.

Qualifications

• Bachelor in Engineering, Accounting or Business Management.
• 1–3 years of progressive experience in project cost control/management.
• Familiarity with FPSO projects is a plus.

Responsibilities

• WBS-based cost recording to ensure expenditures are properly tracked.
• Monitor actual expenditure of the assigned project or phase.
• Prepare cost forecasts and report variances vs budget.
• Verify invoices and claims from suppliers and subcontractors.
• Review work orders and purchase orders to align costs with the budget.
• Maintain and report on the variation/change order register.
• Validate cost data in cost control software.

Cost Controller

We are currently based at KL Eco City, Malaysia.

Job Summary

Under general guidance, to track, monitor, analyze and forecast the cost of assigned small project or phases of a project and report the variances between the forecast and budget for further appropriate actions to prevent budget overrun. This includes coordinating with several stakeholders to prepare the cost reports accurately and timely.

Job Responsibilities

• WBS Assignment: Assigns appropriate WBS codes for all project related expenditures to ensure all expenditures are properly recorded.
• Monitoring of expenditure: Tracks and monitors actual expenditure of the assigned small project or phase of a project.
• Cost Forecasting: Forecasts the cost, analyzes and reports the variance between the budget and forecast.
• Invoice and Claims Management: Verifies and checks Invoices and claims from the supplier, vendor & sub-contractor.
• Work & Purchase Order Review: Reviews work orders & purchase orders to ensure that the cost is in line with the project budget & is captured under appropriate WBS codes.
• Cost Reporting: Assists in preparation of cost reports.
• Monitoring of order register: Updates and maintains variation/change order register.
• Cost Data Validation: Ensures correct recording of data in cost control software & checks periodically for abnormalities if any.

Qualifications

• Bachelor in Engineering, Accounting or Business Management
• 1 to 3 years of progressive experience in project cost control/management.

Competencies

Technical

• Familiar with FPSO projects including some technical knowledge.
• Basic understanding of project management process.
• PC Skills with proficiency in MS Office.
• Due to different project locations, Job holder needs to keep up with different languages to ensure clear understanding of issues and time differences.
