Job Title: Cost Control Engineer

Location: Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Start Date: Immediate

We’re seeking a motivated Cost Control Engineer to support project teams with managing and forecasting budgets across key infrastructure or energy projects. This role ensures tight financial control, insightful cost analysis, and timely reporting that underpins project success.

You’ll play a pivotal role in overseeing cost and revenue reporting, working with multidisciplinary teams to track evolving budgets and support strategic decision-making. If you're looking to step into a dynamic environment with high impact and visibility, this could be your ideal next move.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up and maintain project budgets/forecasts using internal cost control systems.

  • Monitor and update forecasts based on ongoing project developments and risks.

  • Develop and implement cost control procedures from project initiation through to close-out.

  • Deliver monthly cost and project management reports.

  • Prepare client invoices (including reimbursable items) and follow up as required.

  • Update project cash forecasts.

  • Evaluate budget adequacy regularly and suggest corrective actions when necessary.

  • Provide statistical and close-out reports to support future estimates and project planning.

  • Comply with all relevant Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality procedures.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or related field.

  • 3–4 years’ experience in a cost control or related financial project role.

  • Strong command of English (verbal and written).

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and Word skills.

  • Excellent analytical, numerical, and problem-solving capabilities.

  • Organised, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple deadlines.

Desirable:

  • Previous experience in the oil & gas or energy sector.

  • Familiarity with recognised cost control tools or systems.
