Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Cost Accountant to join our newly set up team in a high-mix, low-volume manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining accurate product costing, analyzing manufacturing variances, and supporting strategic decision-making through cost insights. This role requires close collaboration with production, engineering, and supply chain teams to ensure cost transparency and operational efficiency.
Develop and maintain standard costing models for a wide variety of custom and low-volume products.
Analyze manufacturing variances (material, labor, overhead) and provide actionable insights to operations and finance leadership.
Monitor and report on inventory valuation, WIP, and scrap analysis.
Partner with engineering and production teams to evaluate BOMs, routings, and cost drivers.
Support monthly and quarterly closing activities, including journal entries and cost roll-ups.
Conduct cost impact analysis for new product introductions (NPI), engineering changes, and process improvements.
Assist in budgeting and forecasting of manufacturing costs and margins.
Ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting standards (e.g., GAAP, IFRS).
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance cost accuracy and reporting efficiency.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA/CMA is a plus.
3–5 years of experience in cost accounting, preferably in a manufacturing or OEM environment.
Strong understanding of costing principles, inventory accounting, and variance analysis.
Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics) and Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, etc.).
Experience in high-mix, low-volume production settings is highly desirable.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
