About the role

FPG Oleochemicals Sdn Bhd is seeking an experienced Corporate Financial Accounting Manager (Management Trainee) to join our team in Kuantan, Pahang. In this full-time role, you will be responsible for providing strategic financial accounting and reporting services to support the company's wider business objectives.

What you'll be doing

Lead and manage the Financial Accounting (FA) team to meet/exceed service standards through structured training and on-the-job coaching, leading the FA work processes, and managing the statutory reporting process to ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness at all times.

Ensure compliance with local accounting and legal standards, Indirect Taxes regulations, P&G Standards of Accounting and Financial Excellence (SAFE), FPG Finance Manuals, internal control standards, and Control Self-Assessment (CSA) for all FA areas. Advise on remediation and improvement plans to close any identified gap and ensure current practices are in line with the company’s policies and procedures.

Lead the annual statutory audit by external auditors, which includes preparation and collation of audit schedules, interpretation of financial movements, resolving audit issues (if any), drafting of statutory accounts, and review with FPG management within the deadline.

Manage the company’s funds through oversight of the AP process, monitoring of major vendors’ payment terms, accuracy of General Ledger (GL) classification, and managing the AR process by reviewing debit/credit notes, long outstanding invoices, and pricing issues; manage the Treasury process through cash flow planning & forecasting, forward hedging, review of banking facilities/treasury reports, and ensuring compliance with the Central Bank’s regulations; and communicate with bankers to resolve any issues.

Develop ad hoc financial evaluations within tight deadlines, limited resources, and minimal supervision for business decisions on any issues or opportunities.

Conduct team and interdepartmental meetings and report status and resolve issues.

Coach and develop FA associates to meet or exceed service standards through structured training and on-the-job coaching.

Allocate resources and responsibilities across the general accounting team to deliver business results.

Troubleshoot and resolve SAP issues and queries relating to the FI-CO module.

Manage and own customer and vendor master data in the FI-CO module.

Manage the company’s chart of account (COA) in SAP in terms of master data creation and mapping of GL codes

Recommend and develop solutions for continuous improvement opportunities. Ensure successful implementation across the team.

Develop and train backup for this role

Such other tasks as FPG management and changing business environments may require to be performed.

What we're looking for

Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, and a professional accounting qualification (e.g., CPA, ACCA, or CIMA)

Minimum 3 years experience in Accounting or Audit function

Strong understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and corporate financial management principles

Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills

Proven experience in leading and developing high-performing financial teams

Proficient in using financial reporting and analysis software (e.g., Microsoft Excel, PowerBI)

A strategic mindset and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams

Proficiency in spoken and written English and Bahasa Malaysia.

Our principal raw material is palm kernel oil which is sourced primarily from Malaysian producers.

Our products meet stringent international standards and certification. The plant has won numerous awards over the years, including various safety awards from MSOSH. It was also previously voted the best oleochemical company in Malaysia by the Malaysian Palm Oil Board.
