Responsibilities

Role Overview:
We are seeking a committed and detail-oriented Legal Associate to join our client's Corporate Banking practice. The successful candidate will be involved in a wide range of banking and finance matters, with a focus on corporate loan transactions and secured lending.

Key Responsibilities:
1) Draft, review, and advise on documentation for corporate loans and banking facilities

2) Prepare and vet security documents including:

a) Charges or assignments over land/property

b) Debentures

c) Corporate and personal guarantees

d) Pledge of shares

e) Assignment of proceeds

3) Liaise with clients, financial institutions, and relevant stakeholders to ensure smooth completion of transactions

4) Ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements

5) Manage timelines and deliverables to meet tight deadlines

6) Conduct legal due diligence as needed

7)Provide support on ancillary corporate and commercial matters as required

Requirements

Key Requirements:

1) Malaysian-qualified lawyer with 3 - 5 years of post-qualified experience (PQE), ideally in corporate banking or banking & finance

2) Experience in handling a range of security instruments

3) Able to work independently with minimal supervision

4) Highly organised, meticulous, and able to prioritise tasks effectively

5) Strong communication and interpersonal skills

6) Able to perform well under pressure and meet tight deadlines

7) Proficient in English and Bahasa Malaysia; ability to speak additional languages is an added advantage

8) Knowledge or background in conveyancing work is a plus
