Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) Programmer
Develop, modify, and optimize CMM programs using software such as:
- PC-DMIS
- Hexagon Metrology
- Other CMM software as applicable
Create measurement routines based on engineering drawings, CAD models, and GD&T requirements.
Perform offline and online programming.
2. Inspection Activities
- Conduct dimensional inspection of:
- First Article Inspection (FAI)
- Incoming materials
- In-process parts
- Final inspection
- Verify critical dimensions and geometric tolerances.
- Perform manual measurements when required.
3. Drawing Interpretation
- Read and interpret:
- Customer specifications
- GD&T per ASME Y14.5 or ISO GPS standards
- Determine appropriate measurement strategies.
4. Measurement Method Development
- Select suitable probes, styli, fixtures, and alignment methods.
- Develop efficient inspection sequences to reduce cycle time while maintaining accuracy.
- Design or recommend inspection fixtures if necessary.
5. Report Generation
- Generate:
- CMM inspection reports
- First Article Inspection Reports (FAIR)
- Capability studies
- Measurement data summaries
- Support customer documentation requirements such as AS9102 or PPAP when applicable.
6. Equipment Verification
- Perform daily CMM verification and machine health checks.
- Ensure probes and accessories are properly calibrated.
- Coordinate preventive maintenance and annual calibration activities.
7. Process Improvement
- Improve inspection efficiency.
- Standardize CMM programming methods.
- Reduce measurement cycle time.
- Support automation of inspection processes.
8. Quality Support
- Support root cause analysis for dimensional nonconformities.
- Assist Production, Engineering, and Supplier Quality teams with measurement-related investigations.
- Participate in MRB, NCR, CAPA, and continuous improvement activities.
9. Documentation
- Maintain CMM program revisions.
- Archive inspection programs.
- Maintain inspection records according to company procedures.
- Ensure document control compliance.
10. Compliance
- Follow ISO 9001, ISO 13485, or other applicable quality management systems.
- Comply with safety regulations and company procedures.

Qualifications
Education
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in:
- Mechanical Engineering
- Manufacturing Engineering
- Precision Engineering
- Mechatronics
- Equivalent technical qualification
Experience
- 2–5 years of experience in CMM programming within a precision manufacturing environment.
- Experience with CNC machined components is preferred.
- Experience with Hexagon CMM systems is an advantage.
