Job description

Miss Chow’s Margaret River

Miss Chow’s Estate is looking for chefs and cooks for our venue in beautiful Margaret River. The most recently opened restaurant is 200-seater pax offering a fusion menu together with a carefully curated wine lists and excellent cocktails.

Position – Full time, part time or casual

Chefs – from CDP to Commis Chefs
Cooks

Key Responsibilities:

  • Producing high volume of excellent food in a fast-paced environment
  • Prepares a variety of food following traditional and contemporary recipes
  • Will be responsible for ensuring excellent and creative plating of how the food is to be presented
  • Ensures that quality of the food is always consistent and supports the brand image
  • Follows HACCP requirements with regards to food handling and storage
  • Able to assist Head Chef in creating new items for the kitchen and developing signature dishes for the brand
  • Trains and coordinates activities of the kitchen team in food preparation and handling
  • Checks the quality of raw and cooked food to ensure that they meet the required standards
  • Stock control is well managed and always engaging in a first in first out system.
  • BOH team ensures compliance is maintained in all operational procedures in the kitchen according to HACCP and health and safety requirements
  • Attends any scheduled meetings or trainings when required
  • Other duties as directed by Head Chef or Sous Chef

Expected skills/qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience managing back of house operations if you hold a senior role
  • Formal academic qualification in culinary cooking including certificates required by the Health Department or local councils
  • Experience with high volume production
  • Physically fit
  • Passion in learning and be able to handle constructive feedback
  • Experience with Western and Southeast Asian cuisine
  • Takes special interest in improving own cooking skills
  • Chefs will be expected to train cooks and kitchen attendants
  • Adheres to set guidelines for personal hygiene, discipline, and kitchen order
