An offshore catering services provider in Malaysia is seeking an experienced Offshore Cook to prepare and serve meals while ensuring compliance with hygiene and safety standards. The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 2 years of offshore cooking experience, a Certificate of Proficiency, and excellent English communication skills. This role offers a dynamic working environment focused on health and safety regulations.

Ensures compliance with all vessels, Client and Company policies and procedures
Ensures a healthy/safe (OH&S/ISM) and environmentally aware working environment is maintained at all times
Adheres to and enforces safe working practices, Client principles, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) discipline and Incident & Injury Free (IIF) principles.
Assist in preparing JSAs for the galley (where applicable) and attends toolbox talks
Participates in safety drills, musters and training exercises
Ability to speak, read, write and comprehend the English Language.
Prepares food items in accordance with menu requirements, using standard recipes and production methods including the effective use of garnish and presentation techniques to enhance the visual impact of prepared food
Ensures that correct portion control procedures are followed at all times, utilizing batch-cooking systems to ensure the continuous supply of fresh food to the customer.
Serves customers quickly, in a courteous and polite manner and, where possible, complies with customer requests in a timely, friendly and efficient manner.
Checks and stores all deliveries in accordance with vessel, Client and Company procedures.
Ensures customer complaints are dealt with to customers satisfaction or forwarded to supervisor in a timely manner
Follows good stock rotation procedures (first in, first out) to minimise the wastage of commodities.
Maintains the highest standards of hygiene and cleanliness at all times
Uses materials, such as chemicals, in accordance with manufacturer instructions (e.g. dilutions, MSDS, PPE, etc.)
Reports any unhealthy, unsafe and/or non-environmental acts or conditions to the Chief Cook as soon as possible.
Reports defective equipment to the appropriate person.
Reports and, when appropriate, takes action for incidents of loss, theft, damage or unacceptable raw materials.
Participates in team meetings and contributes ideas that will make the workplace healthier, safer, more environmentally aware and more productive.
Participates in training sessions specific to their particular site or position.
Maintains regular communication with the Chief Cook and ensures issues are dealt with in a timely manner.
Carries out other duties as requested by their manager that could further enhance the overall service and efficient running of the catering operation.
SCOPE OF AUTHORITY
To stop any unsafe or unhygienic activity in the accommodation, galley, mess-room or food storage areas
To reject any material for food preparation not complying with the hygienic criteria

EXPERIENCE
Minimum of 2 years offshore cooking experience in a similar catering operation.

CA-EBS Certificate OPTIO approved course
